"Brad Szollose's Liquid Leadership is enlightening! Managing in today's environment is not about clinging to a cookbook of best practices, but about developing an environment that drives consistent innovation and change."

From the Author
Fifteen years of research, hundreds of interviews, research into how technology influences behavior and a touch of my own personal experiences revealed some scary information.
In the pages of Liquid Leadership I do my very best to awaken the reader to the immutable forces impacting how we work, how we play and how we pay. A new digitally-savvy generation is pushing us forward into a new territory--it is happening so fast, 90% of the devices we use today did not exist 8 years ago.
I can guarantee this: Liquid Leadership: From Woodstock to Wikipedia will awaken your consciousness...and you will never see the world in the same way. And on another note, Generation X, Y and iGen will understand how to relate to their seasoned bosses, customers and even their parents.
I look forward to hearing your own stories from the front-lines. Thank you for your interest in my work...

How to attract, keep and profit from the best of Gen X & Y. There has been a Game Change in how C Suite manages today's gifted and talented workers.
It's an entertaining read. Brad Szollose is a great story teller.
Brad’s seven laws say that a liquid leader...
(1) ...places people first.
(2) ...cultivates an environment where it is free and safe to tell the truth.
(3) ...nurtures a creative culture.
(4) ...supports reinvention of the organization.
(5) ...leads by example.
(6) ...takes responsibility.
(7) ...leaves a lasting legacy.
I agree with all of these points: not just for “liquid leaders” but for all leaders. If leadership principles (or laws, as Brad calls them) are true, then they are also applicable in every setting: Gen Y or Baby Boomer, for-profit or charity, Western or Eastern.
The “meat” of Liquid Leadership comes in the opening chapter, with the remaining chapters consisting primarily of Brad’s personal experiences, or his observations of other success/failure stories, to help bolster his point.
If you are looking for a book with good stories to make your case for leadership, check this out. But if you are looking for a book about serious leadership development, look elsewhere.
I remember meeting Brad the year his company went public in 1996 and was so impressed by his creativity and savvy in leading Fortune 500 companies into the wild west show of internet advertising. With "Liquid Leadership" he not only shares his insights as a 21st century leader-in-the-know, but lays down 7 practical laws to live by and build an innovative, successful company in today's fast changing world. He is a true champion of flexibility and openness in the workplace.
I love how he begins the book with his first law of placing people first. Brad believes in people. He knows first hand that technology is but a tool and that the key to building any great company is by placing a high value on the person-to-person relationships, ideas and talents of its workforce. This requires that people respect one another and that leaders create a trusting environment of healthy, productive competition. "By placing people first, you create a sense that everyone is working toward something greater and bigger than themselves." Top down management is a dinosaur. To thrive in today's business climate requires input from everyone in the organization.
With Liquid Leadership, Brad has put out a book that doesn't just inform and entertain, but most importantly, delivers inspirational and practical advice for executives at all stages and ages to succeed. In many ways he is the perfect guide, coach, and teacher with a simple message for our crazy times: Change is good. Believe in your people. Wow your customers. Be dynamic. Be creative. Be fluid.
If you have any desire to be a better leader in this revolutionary Age of Information, you will love this book! Highly recommended for even the most conservative mind.
I love the old fashioned values and character traits I have that were taught to me by my parents and wish the younger generation had that to the same degree I do.
I now understand the generational differences between Boomers and Gen X and Gen Y and fully realize that video games and the internet have created a generation with different values and character traits than mine.
Things will never be the same and so, to be successful in this new world, I need to become better able to understand and communicate with Gen X and Y. Brad's book helped me immensely with that.
