I've heard of this band before, so last week I decided to check em out. Woooooooow! These guys really do bring the power metal hard! And, you know what, to the reviewer below me, I don't know why you even reviewed this CD. These guys don't even sound that Goth to me. Besides, I never like to be technical about everything, I just like mostly everything. Anyways...this CD is awesome, sounds a lot like Demons & Wizards, except most of these songs are fast! I also got Metus Mortis, which is another great album by them, you should check it out! So, basically, if you like Demons & Wizards, then you'll definitely like Brainstorm! My favorite song out of this whole album is Worlds Are Comin' Through.

Okay, I'm going to make this one short because I think it is unneccessary to get into things here. This album $%$$^# ROCKS! To be honest, I did not ever hear about this band before until I was searching some metal bands on myspace and took a listen and heard "Inside the Monster" and thought it was an amazing song. How the heck did these guys go unnoticed? I am a huge metalhead, to a certain extent for I really don't care at all for these death metal bands, i.e. Lamb of God and other 2nd stage acts at Ozzfest. I love loud guitars and such, don't get me wrong but I can't handle a band that has a singer that, well, can't sing.
Anyways, getting off topic. This band is great musically and they seem to bring something fresh that is missing in metal nowadays. And not only are they good at thundering metal but they can go ballad to like on "Heavenly". Point being, buy this album now. You will not regret it.

Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!,

Excellent head banging tunes all around here. The first 4 are especially good, actually scratch that, they all rock!!
The production is great as all instruments are heard as well as felt. The singer can belt it out and the guitars are full and fat with ripping solo's to boot. The bass, keys and drums are all very solid and provide a foundation on which these tunes are driven forward. Yup this cd will kick your ass because it has a solid foundation of great song writing. Who says good music is hard to find?, sometimes you just have to look a little harder to find the gems in the pile of corporate crap. This release is one of those rare finds as it has it all. If you like hard rock/metal?, you'll love this!!!!!!!!! Buy it now and don't miss out on the Storm these guys have created here!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I originally got interested in Brainstorm after my friend bought their previous CD, Soul Temptation in back in 2003. I though it was very good album overall, and the $9.99 price tag was an even bigger incentive for me to go and purchase my own copy.
Brainstorm runs along the line what I call "budget metal". While the band and their music is very good, Liquid Monster being no exception, I don't think the band will ever reach a "superstar" status like bands such as Stratovarius or Edguy. Of course, this doesn't really matter, as when has euro metal scene really been a freakin popularity contest? But in all honesty, you won't find a better release or an album that packs this much quality for such a small price. So if your on a budget (are you seriously that broke?), or you are a looking for a deal that will give you a bang for your buck, you should definitely pick up a copy of Liquid Monster. As for the music itself, the band really doesn't do anything terribly different from their last album Soul Temptation. This isn't bad or good a thing, but at the very least the band is building up some sort of consistency or level of quality, something that seems to be lacking with other bands. The album opens with "Worlds are Coming Through", which sets the mood for the rest of the album (even if the song is just a little too simular to the song "Highs without Lows" from Soul Temptation). Follow this with other solid tracks such as the thunderous "Inside the Monster," the cold "All Those Words," and the haunting beautiful melody of "Heavenly" and you know you have a winner. When it comes right down to it, Brainstorm is a metal outfit that at the very least should be remembered for making solid and accessible metal music. Their albums may not be the gem of your album collection, but they definitely deserve to be a part of it.

Good melodies, but no structure,
This review is from: Liquid Monster (Audio CD)
This CD is great - melody wise, you've got some good lead guitar work, and some good vocal melodies. Other than that, there's really not a whole lot to this CD. Basically, I like it somewhat, but it just gets boring to my ears after the first 2 songs. They don't really know how to structure songs that well (anymore, their older material was so much better), and the drumwork is a letdown. I've heard of going minimal, but this is simplistic. Overall, they're a great band... but this CD is not their best.

Great Metal!!,

I heard of Brainstorm about a year and a half ago and bought the CD "Ambiguity". Since then I've picked up all four of their CD's. Each one is awesome due to excellent songwriting and the great vocals of Andy Franke. Liquid Monster starts out strong and keeps smokin through to the end. The music varies with some hard pounding songs as well as some more melodic metal numbers. There are some superb guitar leads as well as strong bass and pounding drums. This is a must for fans of Tad Morose, Dream Evil, and Primal Fear. Keeping it METAL!!

Symptom Of A Bigger Problem,

Yup, I can definitely see what some people have been saying for years. Power metal has become bland and generic. Unfortunately, I've heard a lot of that lately in several CD's I've bought. This one at least has a cool cover.
The musicianship is good and the singer has the pipes, but the compositions are so bland that after my requisite four listens, I cannot remember a single thing about this album. I mean, it's not horrible by any stretch. It is just nothing to write home about either. These guys have so much talent and technical ability. Maybe they need to get some outside songwriters to help them. Maybe they should also mix things up a bit for variety. Only recommended for the die hard power metal fans.

Pretty good Modern metal,

I'm gonna start this review off with a little heavy metal history lesson. Boring i know but it said share your thoughts so i thought this might help potential buyers of this cd to see what they're getting.
As we all know heavy metal was at its highest peak during the '80s and late '70s. Motorhead, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and others controlled the airwaves and started quite a large following for themselves. But then during the late '80s and predominantly the '90s heavy metal lost it a bit, due to the introduction of the Seattle grunge scene, 'hair' metal and all that other pop/hip hop/rap crap that spawned. Not only that but issues in the metal scene as well, Metallica was going soft and in a weird direction, Halford left Priest, Bruce and Adrian left Maiden and Motorhead wasn't dishing out any Ace of Spades to say the least. All these factors led to a gigantic lull in good metal being released in the '90s, but round about '97 Hammerfall released Glory to the Brave which IMO changed it all. Now i must confess i am a bit of power metal freak but not to a die hard extent. Anyway the point being that after that point heavy metal began to revive and boom again. Bands like Edguy, Sonata Arctica, Primal Fear etc came about and fused the scene with all the great stuff that made heavy metal a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention a lot of creative stuff from the Swedish Melodic Death scene with In Flames, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy etc. Now all that said and done onto the album!! Sorry went a bit overboard, but it's to help you get into a heavy metal mindset. And believe me when you listen to Liquid Monster it gets your head just thinking about good old heavy metal. I will confess something, i had never heard of Brainstorm before until i saw their name on a list here on Amazon. I remember one reviewer said that this album was the heaviest power metal he'd ever heard! So i thought hmmm lets check it out. Liquid Monster is not a power metal album as such but more of a modern heavy metal album along the lines of say Firewind, Thunderstone and Mystic Prophecy (mostly) releases. The riffs are VERY heavy and crunchy. Solos are memorable to. The vocals are strong and done by Andy B Franck of Symphorce, who are also similar to this band. The guitars have a great modern tone and sound to them and utilize plenty chugging riffs, catchy licks and power chords. Dieter Bernert pounds the drums ferociously with plenty of double bass kicks and tom rolls. The standout song is really the first track 'Worlds are Coming Through' which is quite catchy. Also there are some keys and synthesizers sprinkled throughout the album but not to an overbearing extent. To tell you the truth i'm still not that familiar with the album and its songs but i do find that when i stick the CD in i usually play it from start to finish without skipping anything and enjoy it everytime. I bought the album from Amazon and i don't regret doing so one bit. I highly recommend this album to people who want traits of Maiden, Priest and Metallica but with an injection of modern sound. Hope that was helpful. \m/
