Editorial Reviews

After the death of his journalist brother, the life of an ex-special forces soldier turned bodyguard changes dramatically. It becomes clear that his brother was murdered and those responsible for his death are very powerful people. He wants revenge and begins to hunt down and 'liquidate' those responsible for his brother's death. In doing so, he uncovers a ring of corruption extending to the highest levels of society and government. As the liquidations continue, the powerful individuals involved become uneasy and hire the services of an international assassin known as the Silent Killer to neutralize him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Russian-Asian action movie October 27, 2012
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Verified Purchase
It is a revenge plot. Brother revenging the death of his brother but it is not a simple plot. In the process of telling a revenge story the political level, the underworld level, the police enforcement level and the personal levels all get involved. What I found interesting is the movie is produced and acted by a majority of Russians from Asian descent. I think the movie was cast in the Eastern part of Russia. Now their sentiment is a bit different from the sentiment of the European and American point of view so you have to make space in your mindset for something a little different. The storyline and the characters develop in a successful manner. All the characters stay in character so the story feels believable. I gave it a 5 to balance out the other low star reviews. I do not understand why others rated lower than 3. Maybe such reviewers were using American cinema movie standards for screen writing and plot development. It is well done but in the magnitude of order for Russian produced films. Watch it you will get a good action movie out of the viewing.

3.0 out of 5 stars SAFE DRIVING IN EXTREME CONDITIONS August 18, 2012
This film was made in the Republic of Kazakhstan which accounts for the oriental looking actors and Russian script on everything. If you want to know what the Russian documents say, you need to set up the film with English subtitles. The dubbing was horrible and included foul language not in the subtitles. In one scene a man pushes a woman out of his way onto a bed. He says, "Shut you face" but the subtitles read "relax" giving the scene a slightly comedic "What's Up Tiger Lily" effect.

Arsen (Aitzhanov Berik) is a former special agent working as a body guard. When his brother is killed, Arsen uses his skills to avenge his death as a vigilante. As he does, two elderly gentlemen seem to show up at random and want to recruit him for ???? With the law hunting him, and kills adding up, the higher ups in the business world have hired Vinnie Jones to kill Arsen, because that was the biggest named actor Kazakhstan could afford and only for the last half of the film.

The movie did have a twist I didn't see coming, perhaps due to the translation issues. One of the certificates in the dossier of Arsen is "Safe Driving in Extreme Conditions." Eat you heart out Jason Bourne!

PARENTAL GUIDE: F-bomb. No sex, no nudity. 2 1/2 stars.

I feel like the director and the actors owe me my time spent watching this trash back. Do NOT waste your time on this garbage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good action movie... November 3, 2012

This is a very good action movie. It is with Russian sub-titles, but very well done. I wasn't expecting the action to be so good, but was pleasantly surprised by the Jason Stratham type action. Highly recommended.
