3.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Singer
Lisa has an amazing voice. If you enjoyed Celtic Women, you would likely enjoy this. Some of the songs are rehashed from prior recordings, but that doesn't detract from the quality. "May it Be" is worth buying the CD.

Such amazing talent! I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard Lisa Kelly's solo album. Having watched the Celtic Woman DVD, I was impressed with all of them, but Lisa Kelly and Meav definitely stood out. On top of a very solid voice, I like the way she interprets all these songs with passion. The highs and lows are both sung with equal intensity. Although you may have heard some of these songs sung by other artists ("May It Be", "Now We Are Free", "Carrickfergus" come to mind), you will definitely want to listen to them again sung by Lisa.

This is a great example of someone who has a lot of substance and talent, but not necessarily looking for excessive fame. It's great when you can listen to every song on an album and appreciate it for the musical content!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Sure a little bit of heaven..", January 13, 2006
This review is from: Lisa (Audio CD)
Throw away your Enya CD's! (No offense Enya) Buy 2 of these because you will wear the first one out listening to such a beautiful voice. All of heaven poured sweet music in the heart of this lovely lady. Song's like "The Deer's Cry" will have more than the deer crying. My all time favorite David Downes tune of "Send Me a Song" can not be sung by anyone but Lisa Kelly. Buy the CD for home and one for your car! Listen to Lisa and feel the stress of the day flow from you.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Girl Can Sing, January 11, 2006
This review is from: Lisa (Audio CD)
How often have you heard that phrase? A year or two later you can never remember the name. Here's one you will never be able to get off your mind. Or out of your heart for that matter. Lisa can have that effect on you. Lisa is one of the singers from the highly successful Celtic Woman. A lot of you have already heard that very talented group of performers. For the rest of us, it will only be a matter of time.
How refreshing it is to experience a woman's voice that can really move you. From her heart to yours is probably a better description. Lisa hails from Ireland. That mystical place we all love. How she captures that wonderment in her voice we will never know.
It may have something to do with her years of training as a vocalist. Well, that and a God given ability that is bestowed on only a few. This is her first album to hit our shores. We can only hope for many more. You don't buy a CD like this if you are only a casual listener. She grabs your attention and more. What a journey she gives you. You just have to listen. In fact that's what I'm doing this very moment. Just can't get her off my mind.
Yes this girl can sing. And I like that name, Lisa. So easy to remember.

4.0 out of 5 stars An outstanding vocalist, March 28, 2006

Last week I purchasd the CD Celtic Woman. Little did I know that a whole new world of music, and female vocalists would be opened up to me. I had no idea what would be on the CD. I just knew it would be Celtic music. I saw that there were 4 outstanding vocalists on the CD and was intrigued by all of them. Lisa to me is hands down, the finest vocalist of the four
Her voice has a clarity and a beauty that in my mind sets her apart, that is saying alot, because the others are outstanding as well. I have to say Meav has a beautiful first soprano voice that is among the prettiest I have ever heard. Lisa sings with more of a Celtic accent, and that alone draws me to her music. Since I bought Celtic Woman I have not played anything else. The Music has a beauty that will haunt you.
It took a few listens for the music to grow on me. I purchased the DVD of their PBS performance in Dublin and the music simply will not let me go. Be prepared to be drawn to this music.
This CD has several songs from the Celtic Woman DVD/CD, and it should because they are her best songs. Cerrickfergus is another song that will intrigue you.
Included are Siuil A Run, which is pure Celtic music at its best. Siuil A Run is also sung on the solo CD by Orla, and her version is outstanding as well.
The Soft Goodbye, Dubhdarra, Send me a Song and, May it Be which is performed by Enya, from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. I prefer Lisa's version over Enyas. She also does songs from Riverdance, and a song from Gladiator as well. I have been listening to nothing but Celtic music for over a week now and I cannot get enough.
Lisa as I listen to her more and more, the more I like her, you will not be sorry you bought this one, I promise...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, July 5, 2007
This review is from: Lisa (Audio CD)
Celtic Woman is a musical ensemble comprised of five Irish and one New Zealander female artists - five vocalists (including Lisa Kelly), and one violinist. This wonderful album is a collection of 11 tracks, all the work of the incomparable Lisa Kelly. Lisa was born into a musical family, and is well known for her singing of classical and Celtic songs - she spent five years as the lead female vocal for Riverdance! I must say, this album shows off her ability to its best.

I like having nice music to listen to at work, and this album is one of my favorites. While working, I love the angelic sound of Lisa's voice sweeping out of my speakers. Overall, I found this to be a great album, one that is always wonderful to listen to. I give it my highest recommendations!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not studio wizardry, she really is this good, August 29, 2006

This CD is an excellent showcase of Lisa Kelly's virtuosity on a well thought-out selection of songs.

I've seen the Celtic Woman tour performance twice (2005 & 2006) in a small outdoor venue (Humphrey's on San Diego's Shelter Island). On a small stage, David Downes uses a small instrumental ensemble and a pared-down chorus, compared to the Dublin concert on the Celtic Woman DVD. If anything, Lisa's voice sounds even better in this setting, with the audience literally in her face. When she soloed on Enya's "May It Be" even the sea birds stopped to listen, and I could see the Last Ship departing the Gray Havens for the Undying Lands.

Like the best of the Broadway and West End singers, Lisa's interpretation is theatrical without being melodramatic. Of the four Celtic Woman vocalists, her soprano is not the purest, but it has the greatest range of emotion. With all due respect to Sarah Brightman, I'd rather listed to Lisa Kelly any day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven On Earth, March 27, 2006

I first heard the Celtic Women group on my PBS channel and immediatly became mesmerized at the clarity and emotion of their voices. I was disappointed for the longest time because while I had the Celtic Woman CD and DVD, there was no US distributer for the individual artists CDs. Thanks to my contacting and several other people pushing, Celtic Collections finally released these CDs to the US market. Lisa always has been my favorite of the ladies. I had the pleasure of seeing Celtic Woman live and it is an experience I will never forget...
The best song on this CD, the Soft Goodbye is sung with such emotion it brings tears to your eyes.
For those who are concerned with repeat songs from the Celtic Woman collaborative album, the repeated songs on all the individual artists discs are different recordings and vary from the CW disc. So definatly worth the buy...especially when you cannot get enough like me!
I also strongly recommend Chloe Agnews: Walking on the Air

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, March 31, 2006
This review is from: Lisa (Audio CD)
I got this CD after watching the PBS Celtic Woman special and loved when Lisa Kelly sang "May It Be" on there. She has an amazing voice, so pure and enjoyable. My favorite tracks on her album are "May It Be" (possibly better than Enya's version), "A Deer's Cry", and "Now We Are Free", which is pure musical beauty. You can not go wrong with this artist, she is wonderful!
