3.0 out of 5 stars An adorable poem written by George Eliot May 7, 2014
By Andreea
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I bought this book, I thought it was a story or a novella, but it turned out to be a poem inspired by Boccaccio's tales. The story takes place in 13th century Sicily, where a tradesman's daughter falls in love with the Spanish King Pedro of Aragon, who saved the island from the French. Lisa is very passionate about chivalric tales and legends, so it projects them on the king. She is aware of the rank gap between them; therefore she wishes to die, but first she asks a menestrel to write a song about her love and to sing it to the king. Will the king be impressed by this innocent love? Will Lisa recover and meet the king in person? Read the poem and you will find out!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet poem August 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I didn't realize this was a poem when I bought it. I'm not a huge fan of poetry, but this was a sweet and simple story, and I enjoyed it. It's very short and doesn't take long to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars poem April 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I would not have ordered this if I had know it was a long poem. Still I read it and Eliot wrote a lovely poem. One would have to really enjoy reading a fantasy about a young girl and a king to stick with it.
