When the heck is this going to be on DVD?!?!?! I'm a huge fan of Cheryl Ladd's since Charlie's Angels (I know i'm showing my age!!)

But come on PEOPLE! Put this on DVD!! PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!! I'm all ready to buy it on DVD.

This is one of Cheryl Ladd's best performances in a thriller as well as Staci Keanan. Great performance by D.W. Moffet as the psychopathic killer too!

Fans want this on DVD! Come on whomever has rights to putting movies to DVD, get crackin'!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Teenagers will love this movie!, February 13, 2002
This review is from: Lisa [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a perfect example of a film stricty meant for teenagers.
LISA used a very creative theme by having the title character, played to near-perfection by Staci Keanan, having phone conversations with a guy who turns out to be a serial killer, already in the headlines as " the candlelight killer".
Cherryl Ladd gives a good performance as Lisa' s mom Catherine. Another film that is remarkable about this movie is the mother-daughter bond between the two actresses and the tensions in that relationship due to Lisa' s adolescent crisis.
A good thing about LISA is that it gives the viewer the impression that the movie is a mix of to plots:the first one consists of the mother-daughter bond giving a dramatic flavor to the movie and the second one involving Lisa in a troublesome situation with a psychotic killer who will track her down eventually, giving LISA a very suspenceful flavor. The film also features a good dramatic musical score. However the fine print of this film is that you could watch it 100 times when you are 15 and not get bored of it and then not have cravings to see it again as you grow older. This is suspence but obviously cannot be in the same category as other great suspence movies; it is obvious that LISA was marketed for the teenage segment only. And plus, it is essential to state that this film is so forgotten ( despite the fact that it was released by United Artists) that it does not appear in some movie guides. Or, if there is a listed review it tends to be on the negative side, putting an emphasis on the film' s weaknesses only.I must say that I really liked this movie when I was a teenager.I stronly recommend this film to anyone who loves suspence althought it is sometimes hard to find this movie in your local video store and I notice that this film is rarely aired on commercial TV. But the trouble is worth it!

I, for the life of me will never understand these movie companies! They keep turning out a lot of crappy old films to DVD and then you get a really good picture like this one (in which I often think about) and they delay putting this to DVD! Someone is sleeping upstairs! I can name quite a few movies they should have "hurried up " and convert to DVD. Lisa is definitely one of them!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, June 23, 2006

I saw the movie when i was a pre-teen, I loved it! I could totally identify with Lisa. My parent's wouldn't let me date, till I was out of the house...lol.

The movie rolled along at a natural pass, and the actors were believable.

I give the movie 5 stars.

Lisa is a teenage girl who cannot date, because her mother thinks she is too young. Richard is a serial killer who calls his victims and leaves a message on their answering machine before he kills them. One day their paths cross...

The story flows quite naturally as does the dialogue. And the acting is good all over. Still, it never really gets engaging (nor scary). Probably more suiting for a younger (early teens) audience. Not bad, but I don't think I will remember it for very long.

In Sweden this film is called "The Candlelight Killer".

5.0 out of 5 stars Staci Keanan proves she can act., November 30, 1999

After years of watching Staci as the neurotic Dana on Step by Step, I discovered this gem in the video store. It's certainly a less-than-perfect example of film noir of the 90's, but I enjoyed it immensely. Staci Keanan and Cheryl Ladd play off each other very well. The angsty dialogue gets tiresome, but it's heartfelt. And the ending...very cool. If you can find this, see it.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent 80's thriller for the teen crowd, July 12, 2011
This review is from: Lisa [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This 80's thriller is entertaining, though not terribly scary. It's more like a warning to teens not to talk to strangers and jerk men around.
The main character makes some incredibly foolish decisions, but since she's 14 years old, I can kind of let that slide...as well as her being such a pro at getting people's phone #'s. The movie drags a little in the middle and the acting is okay, but overall, a decent thriller aimed at the teen crowd.

4.0 out of 5 stars I wish they would release this on DVD, January 2, 2011

I remember this movie airing on tv all the time when I was younger. I use to love watching it and became reminiscent one day and started looking for it on Amazon.com. I found it, but VHS used version It works fine and I am glad I got it; however, the trick will be to keep having some type of contraption that plays vhs tapes. Although I guess eventually DVD players will be obsolete. Blue ray is alreay taking over the video section!
