I bought these for a line job that needed a tight bend. They can get a lot tighter bend than the normal bender, but I borrowed a friend's Eastwood tubing pliers and it worked better. The Lisle ones were more likely to kink the tubing. The Eastwood ones never kinked.

I read some of the other reviews on this pair of bending pliers, but bought them anyway as I only needed it for a single project. The problem with this pair of pliers is, they only finished the exterior part so that it looks better than it really is. I could see that the reason many others said that these pliers left marks on the tubing was that the gripping surface was nothing more than a rough casting, and in fact the angle between the tube gripping surface and the face of the pliers was an acute angle - - no wonder! I used a 3/16" round chain saw file to clean up the rough area and added a very slight radius to the formerly acute edge, and after that they worked acceptably well for my project, although I think if I had been using the expensive nickel-copper alloy I'd have been less than satisfied. So, to sum up, if you don't mind doing your own finish work on this tool, and only want to use it because you don't want to invest in something more professional, it'll get the job done.

I ordered this part to redo some brake lines. It did come in Lisle packaging but right on the blue handles it states "Made in China." I know Lisle does some manufacturing there and poor QC doesn't show on these.

If you are trying to bend tubing in place, then this is the tool to do it. While they avoid kinking the tubing and have good leverage, expect some scarring to occur.

handles are little flimsy, good for holding the tubing in tight spots but not much for "bending" if I had to use them every day they would not hold up

Yes, I gave it one undeserved star only because zero stars was not an option. I would call these pliers crap except that would be totally unfair to crap in general. Did you ever watch the show "How It's Made" ? You know, where they take a tool five or six steps from rough cast to a finished piece ? Well, this POS went from step 2 directly to step 6. The tooling of the jaws looked like it was done by an angry beaver on crack. Wait, I take that back, the beaver would have done a BETTER job.
I briefly considered working them over with a file and some emery paper to "finish" the job, but then I would have ended up with a pair of 1/4" pliers which I already own, so what would be the point. Now I realize a great many tools are manufactured in China these days and it almost always boils down to quality control. Sadly in this case, quality and control ARE mutually exclusive. As always, there are positive reviews of this product so your mileage may vary.

I used this tool to copy all the bends from the old brake line that runs from the front of a 1999 F150 (with an extended cab with an 8 foot bed) to the rear axle. I made the replacement from stainless steel which worked great. I would get part way down the line and then I would tape the starting ends together of the old line I was copying to the new line. I also taped them together every so often as I went along. The stainless line is a little springy which I think was a help when I went to put it on the truck. You could spring it around tight places and it would spring right back.
