Lisle 48100 5" Vise Jaw Pads,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lisle 48100 Vice Jaw Pad (Automotive)
Good/effective product for the price. For the hobbyist - not the professional.
Useful for protecting workpiece, but I don't recommend for extreme tightening/clamping. These are simple pads with cheap components and rough machining. Rubber & magnets are glued/epoxied on. As other reviews have noted, the pads may occasionally come off the vise jaws due to weak magnets: 1) If the vise is closed tightly, the rubber pads can create a partial vacuum - either with one another or with a flat workpiece in between. The pads stick and one comes off of its side when the vise is opened. 2) It is fairly easy to knock the pads off while moving around a cumbersome workpiece, but not with your hands/fingers. The pads could easily be modified to stay in place (w/ dowel pins or similar). H x L x W Overall 1.250" x 4" x 0.970" - Smaller than expected, yet sufficient. Rubber 1.175" x 4" x 0.125" - Sufficiently thick, but supportive aluminum lips protrude 0.050" underneath and could mar object if vise is tightened heavily. Jaw tab 0.150" x 4" x 0.580" - (w/out magnet) Seems thick enough for aluminum to not crack under a hammer blow. Magnets 0.070" x 4" x 0.490" - Not surprising they are on the weak side.

Works, but could be better,

I wanted some rubber jaws for a new $25 vise I picked up at Home Depot. These seemed to fit the bill. They work, but a few improvements would make these things perfect. First, they need stronger magnets, like the really strong ones you see in other products. These magnets work, but they are weak. If I close the vise down, the pads stick together a little and one of them pops off when I open it. In my opinion, really strong magnets would hold these things on the vise perfectly.
Other than that, they seem to do what I was looking for, so overall, not a bad purchase, but could be made to be really great.

Well made,

These pads appear to be well made and work as advertised however the magnets should be stronger because the pads are easily knocked out of position when aligning an item in in the vise.
