5.0 out of 5 stars At the top of my A-List!
I have read all the Gossip Girl books so far, and also such books as Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, and I think that The A-List is alot better than any of these. Anna is such a great character and it is east like her. It's like she's a rich girl but doesn't act like a rich girl. She has problems with her parents and with boys, and the guy that she likes the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Give me a break!!!
Perhaps its unfair of me to write a review on a book I'm only 9 pages into, but 9 pages seems like enough.

First off - its a Gossip Girl 'wannabe' novel. Second, there's already a major typo only 9 pages into the book. The boy that Anna secretly lusted for (and Cyn wound up snagging) was referred to on or around page 3 or 4 was 'Scott Rowley'. However, on...

5.0 out of 5 stars At the top of my A-List!, October 20, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
I have read all the Gossip Girl books so far, and also such books as Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging, and I think that The A-List is alot better than any of these. Anna is such a great character and it is east like her. It's like she's a rich girl but doesn't act like a rich girl. She has problems with her parents and with boys, and the guy that she likes the most just fell in love with her best friend. Then she moves from New York City to Beverly Hills, where the coolest girls in her new high school decide that they totally hate her. How they try to ruin her life is amazing to read. One bad thing after another happens to Anna, but she never gives in. What's also great about this book is that it is funny. I know that some other people here said how funny it is, but it really is. The book ends on a big question, so I just can't wait to buy the next one. Get yourself on the A-List by reading this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gossip Girl, Move Over!, September 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
I loved this book so much. This book is just as funny as Gossip Girl and just as snarky, but somehow even more fun to read. I think it is because you will love the heroine Anna so much. She is a rich girl, but she could also be your friend very easily. She also is a girl who reads a lot. She moves from New York City to Beverly Hills, and the whole book takes place in just one day, on the day she arrives. There are hot guys and hot parties and you just want to keep reading to see what happens next. So if you love Gossip Girl books, you will adore The A-List. I laughed out loud many times when I read this, and I couldn't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Gossip Girl, February 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
I bought this book and read it in one day. Unlike Gossip Girl which I also bought, this book is a classier version. The main character in The A-List is a likable person. She goes to LA on an adventure expedition and falls in love with a guy she met on the airplane flight. Unfortunately for Anna, the three other main characters all love the same guy. This makes the book kinda corny because why would three very rich girls from California be in love with the same guy when there are other fishes in the sea. The difference between this book and Gossip Girls is that each of the girls although very bitchy come across likeable because the author provides you a little background information regarding the main characters. The book is also good because it doesn't focus solely sex and drugs which happens to be a big part of rich boys and girls in high society who have so much money and little parental guidance,,,,think Paris Hilton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!!!!!!!!, June 22, 2005
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
This book was absolutally awsome! It was about a girl tring to find herself and what she wants to do with herself. What girl can't relate to that? I mean, I could'nt stop reading it. It shows how we all feel about life, love, friends, and bullies. Its about overcoming what's expected to find out who you really are and what you really want. Plus it has a cool LA setting. You can't pass it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A-List: Two Thumbs Up, March 2, 2006
By
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
I began reading the A-List Series in August of 2005, and was hooked from the beginning- almost incapable of putting the book down after reading the character descriptions. Although they may be considered "easy reads", the A-List books are the types that have you sitting up in bed, craving sleep, while each page makes you even more eager to read on. I will admit that the beginning of "The A-List" didn't quite catch my attention, but after Anna Percy (female lead) meets Princeton boy Ben Birnbaum (male lead); I was hooked not only on the drama that followed, but also the characters. Having read the "Gossip Girl" Series, I am definitely partial to this series. In "Gossip Girl", the characters are so vaguely described that it is almost difficult to put yourself in their shoes (never mind the fact that you can never decide whose side you're on, who has good intentions, etc). In the "A-List", it's hard not to fall in love with the characters because you know exactly how they're feeling and their reasoning behind the choices they make. Controversial to most of the characters in "Gossip Girl," Anna Percy is a wealthy seventeen-year-old who thinks sensibly with both her head and her heart, is not selfish, conceited, nor attention-seeking- giving us an opposing side to the common "all-rich-girls-are-brats" assumption. Reading this series matured my sense of reality and, surprisingly enough, made me a bit more excited for the future and what lay ahead for me (I'm fifteen). I'd easily recommend "The A-List" to any young adult or teen.

This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
I LOVE this book! i like it even better than gossip girl. They seem more real, and you get to know that the characters in the book have bad sides to them, and insacurities, unlike in GG. I also like that these books a a little longer then Gossip girl, which i like.I love the setting, in LA.. it seems better than NYC and in some books they go on vacation in dif places too! the characters are more developed in this book than in others. I never want them to end!! ive read all 6 and im wanting more!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Book, April 17, 2005
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
This book has to be my new favorite book! Zoey Dean is a very talented author who really brought this book to life!

17 year old Anna Percy is tired of her oh so safe, perfect, and predictable life. She finally decides to go live with her dad in L.A. But will she be able to survive a Beverly Hills wedding, a crazy New Years Eve party, a clique of stuck up girls, and the love of her life? To find the answer to these questions read The A-List.

5.0 out of 5 stars A plot that is filled with surprises and humor., July 26, 2004
By
This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
Anna Percy finds no comfort in her designer clothes when her longtime secret crush falls hard for someone else --- her best friend, in fact. The only thing standing between Anna and the end of high school is an internship at a literary journal, and she couldn't be happier to get away from that scene.

When the internship falls through too, Anna jets out to L.A. to live with her father, hoping to find an internship at an entertainment agency. She's totally ready to break out of the boring East Coast prep life she's been stuck in.

Her adventures begin on the plane, where the fabulous Ben spares her from a lounge lizard seatmate. Upon landing, they have plans to go to a Hollywood wedding that night! But even in the land of eternal sunshine, Anna is experiencing some problems. Her father keeps blowing her off and Ben's old female friends, the A-List, are like a coven of witches. Everything she was looking forward to in her new life slips away and Anna is left wondering how to start over.

THE A-LIST will not disappoint GOSSIP GIRL fans; in fact, they will eat it up! Zoey Dean has crafted a plot that is filled with surprises and humor, and Anna is a three-dimensional girl whom readers will sympathize with --- even as they fantasize about her lifestyle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great quick read! NOT for young teens!, September 22, 2003

This review is from: The A-List: A Novel (Paperback)
I am 19 yrs. old, and felt a little embarrassed at first buying a teen novel, but it turned out to be better then i thought. Its pretty insightful, and not full of baloney, the authoer really gets into the head of these girls! However I would not recommend it for anyone younger then 17 yrs of age. IT has alot of vulgar language, drug abuse, and sex. Which only someone with the right level of maturity can understand. Good and fun Read!

Perhaps its unfair of me to write a review on a book I'm only 9 pages into, but 9 pages seems like enough.

The boy that Anna secretly lusted for (and Cyn wound up snagging) was referred to on or around page 3 or 4 was 'Scott Rowley'. However, on page 9, his name suddenly changed to 'Scott Spencer'.

It seems Ms. Dean invested a lot of time studying Gossip Girl and Ms. von Ziegeser's creative way of writing and 'designer name dropping' down to a science. I'm surprised no one else is appalled by this copy-cat novel!
