Hilarious Yet Highly Informative,
This review is from: The A-List Playbook: How to Survive Any Crisis While Remaining Wealthy, Famous, and Most Importantly, Skinny (Paperback)
Ms. Gornstein has delivered a deft high-wire act of a book: The A-List Playbook is often laugh-out-loud funny, but it never strays far from the realm of hard-nosed reporting. That's what sets it apart from the usual jokey fare of the the mock survival genre. Ostensibly a guide for A-List celebs who want to hang on to their precarious royal-lite status, the book is actually an expose of how today's pampered stars get away with practically anything they desire (even, sometimes, homicide), thanks to the eager enablement of their sycophantic handlers and a star-struck public. The author backs up the revelations (how many nannies in the average A-lister's child-care platoon, how much free stuff a movie diva racks up, who kisses up hardest in a celebrity entourage) with well-researched facts. The perfect antidote to the breathy fawning of the glossy checkout aisle mags.

This review is from: The A-List Playbook: How to Survive Any Crisis While Remaining Wealthy, Famous, and Most Importantly, Skinny (Paperback)
I absolutely love this book. I bought it because I'm a secret reader of People magazine and Gornstein totally makes fun of these mags while satisfying our need to know what celebrities are doing...This book is smart and hilarious and the illustrations throughout are total eye candy!!

I am a closet reader of entertainment magazines. They are a guilty pleasure I enjoy behind closed doors. But the A-List Playbook is the best kind of entertainment reading. Ms. Gornstein's writing is smart and sharp. The facts are well researched. And the content is fascinating to anyone who has watched a TV show or a movie in the last decade. I laugh out loud and when people stare I show them the book with pride. Any one who has felt the need to sneak a look at those grocery store tabloids will love this book. Any intelligent person who has any curiosity about our current state of pop culture will delight in Ms. Gornstein's expose on celebrity in America. Buy it! Read it! Give it as gifts!

Celebrities Really Aren't Like Us,

This review is from: The A-List Playbook: How to Survive Any Crisis While Remaining Wealthy, Famous, and Most Importantly, Skinny (Paperback)
Sharp, sarcastic, hilarious -- this book is a great read if you've ever wondered about celebrities' crazy behavior. Written by someone who knows how Hollywood really operates, this book contains information that is too absurd NOT to be true. Great for the person who would rather read about the hidden meaning of Angelina's tattoos than the global economic crisis. Highly recommended.

The perfect book for that aspiring celebrity in your life,

This review is from: The A-List Playbook: How to Survive Any Crisis While Remaining Wealthy, Famous, and Most Importantly, Skinny (Paperback)
I've followed the Answer Bitch column for a good long while but I wasn't sure her brand of wit would translate into a full fledged book. I was wrong, from celebrity weddings to successfully calling paparazzi for a staged photo op, this book had me laughing my F-list head off from the entire time I was reading. Sure, the book is more a satirical look at the A-Listers than a true how-to guide, but the facts that back up these tidbits will change the way you view Saint Angie. Pick up this book for yourself, then buy a copy for every gossip loving, celebrity following person in your life.

If you are in the B or lower category list for celebrity, then there is only one book you need to turn to. If you are obsessed with celebs and want to pull them down to your level, and let's face it, who doesn't want that, this is the book to turn to. In turns thoughtful, funny, and shocking, Gornstein shows Hollywood for what it is. So, give your money to this excellent author.

From its red carpet worthy cover to its glorious glossary, the A List Playbook is nothing but top tier.
The author's scalpel sharp wit dissects the A-List lifestyle with the skill of a savvy Hollywood plastic surgeon. Mere mortals shouldn't be allowed to have this much fun but thank heavens now we can!

This book mixes celebrity dish with the E! online Answer B!tch's brand of humor. It's a great combination, and is fun to pick up and read when you have a bit of spare time.
