5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely helpful information!, January 24, 2008
This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)
This book was a very easy read. The author talks "with you" not "at you". I felt as though I was having a conversation. The information confirmed some of my thoughts that a friend of mine is in the beginning stages of this disease. I was pleased to know that some of the things we are doing are correct, and also glad to hear that we can't do everything ourselves. Everyone needs help and should ask for it. Telling personal stories about her son and other family members, made understanding the material so much easier. I recommend this book to everyone who suspects this disease has entered their world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but worth it, January 18, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)
This is just one of many titles that I have purchased since my husband was diagnosed with "dementia, probably of the Alzheimer's kind". It seemed a little pricey for as small a paperback as it was, but the information in it is well worth it. Even hubby pours over it ( altho it is written more so the caregiver can walk in the patient's shoes). He has told me ( over and over) that many of the things the author discusses went unnoticed by him, but now he can see that for the past several years, he has experienced them all. If you have this one, and "Alzheimer's from the Inside", you're off to a good start at understanding this dread disease and how to cope with it and the patient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Sandy, April 23, 2011
This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)
My father has dimentia. It is not intuitive understanding the disease and how to cope with it. One needs an experienced person to explain. Sandy did that in this book. I like the fact that she used a handbook approach with each page filled with to-the-point information. This allows an easy way to revisit the book over and over again. On a personal note: Sandy thank you for allowing me a way to communicate with my Dad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! A Must Read!!!, March 14, 2009
This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)
Sandy Kehoe has written a wonderful book to help caregivers and anyone dealing with a loved one who is suffering from alzheimers. This author's vast knowledge about caring for alzheimers patients is obvious through her stories, advice and information. Compassion and respect for the person who is suffering from alzheimer's disease as well as their loved ones or caregivers are the most important themes of this book. There are many different forms of dementia illnesses and Sandy managed to traslate this medical information into layman's terms. This book is outstanding and a "must read" for everyone dealing with alzheimer's disease.

5.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive resource in a small package, June 4, 2008
This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)
I found this book to be a quick read, clearly written, and easily understandable on a subject that can be extremely complicated. Sandy gives the reader a better understanding of memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, and other dementias with wonderful tips, suggestions, and interventions for caregivers, families, and professionals. Her understanding and compassion for both the patient and the caregiver is remarkable, and is evident throughout the book. This is a comprehensive resource in a small package.

This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)
This is the second time in my life I've had Alzheimer's Disease take over a family member's life. I purchased this book for my brother, whose wife has the disease. On many occasions I've assisted with her care, so purchased the book for him and myself. It has been a comfort to us. Many good suggestions to implement, but also acknowledging the fact that we are doing a lot of the right things too. She is so right about the caregiver insisting he can do it all, but can't. He hasn't yet come to this realization.

It is the most well written book in this field that I've read, and I've read many. Clearly written, easily understood, as if in conversation. Sandra is extremely well informed regarding this dreaded disease.

Thank you, Sandra

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Read!, March 17, 2008
This review is from: "Listen To Me, I Am Still Somebody": Understanding the Alzheimer's Disease Sufferer (Paperback)

I have been a health care provider for many years and have seen Sandy give presentations on Alzheimer's Disease. I didn't think she could top her presentation but this book is as entertaining as her presentation.
I have recommended it to everyone.
Sandy's understanding of this disease is so obvious in the way she presents the material and now to have it to refer to is perfect!
This is a must for anyone dealing with this disease!
