It's safe to say Building 429 had some lofty expectations to fulfill with this album. They've only been my favorite band for years. Their music has been with me through the highs and lows of life, constantly reminding me of God's goodness and faithfulness and my dependence on Him. Their beautiful, heartfelt lyrics and Jason Roy's amazing vocal delivery have combined to form some of my favorite songs ever. So, do they meet expectations or miss the mark on their latest release?

This album is noticeably more intense than any of their previous ones. They've certainly shed the "soft rock" label I'd apply to Space In Between Us. "Made For You" starts off with a synth reminiscent of their spacy third album, Iris to Iris, but soon the tempo picks up, the guitars start firing, and Jason Roy is belting out about how God gives his life meaning. The first half of the album is generally energetic rock anthems of God's goodness and how it affects lives. I hope the days of their quieter, more introspective songs like "Shadow of Angels" or "Oxygen (Bringing Me to Life)" aren't over, but at any rate they do well without it.

But I really don't listen to Building 429 for the music. If they were a secular band, they probably wouldn't interest me much. I'm getting this album at the end of a long and challenging year of college and B429's honest, God-glorifying lyrics give me hope for healing and a renewed, deeper relationship with a Savior who is Life itself. This is pretty much the point of the title track, which like most of the songs on the album has a powerful, uplifting, and undeniably catchy chorus that seals the deal. "One Foot", "Made For You" and "Love Has Been Spoken" tackle our identity and Christ and how it allows us to live transformed lives.

When I originally review this CD is said it was pretty good.
Well I'm here to correct myself, this is one of the best Christian albums I've listened to in a long time. It is a must have, almost every single song is absolutely incredible. Both musically and lyrically this album is just insanely good. Being a Youth Pastor I buy a TON of Christian music and I have to say this is the best of the best.

Dove Award winning band Building 429 continues to gain attention for the hit title track off its fifth studio album, "Listen To The Sound," released May 10. The 10-song project is produced by Jason Ingram, Rusty Varenkamp and Rob Hawkins. Blessed with one of the most distinctive voices in any genre of music, lead singer Jason Roy, wrote or co-wrote nine of the ten tracks on the new album. Building 429 is best known for its 2004 breakout hit "Glory Defined," which was named BMI's Christian Song of the Year in 2005, and that same year Building 429 was named New Artist of the Year at the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards.

I've collected all four previous albums and considered the last two albums, Iris To Iris and Building 429 to each be the band's best album respectively. Now, yet again they've released their newest "best" album. Right from the opening choral-backed "Made For You," I knew I was in for a treat with this gem. The song was co-written with Jason Ingram and kicks off the album with a Hillsong UNITED-type rock anthem with the awesome bridge, "You are God there is no other, I won't bow before another, I was made for You." This band has consistently made albums that are worthy of the band name's theme verse, Ephesians 4:29. "Right Beside You" is a guaranteed hit song in all formats, and includes a stellar guest vocal by Fireflight's Dawn Michele. What's especially impressive is how instantly catchy and musically engaging this album sounds after just one listen. After having played the album non-stop for the past couple of weeks, I have to give it 5 stars and there are no weak tracks, and several stand-out songs.

Wow! This album is great! My favorites thus far are Listen To The Sound, Love Has Been Spoken, and right beside you. I can tell God and His Spirit really are working on these guys. Yes, it is contemporary, but yet it is one of the best modern christian albums I've heard in quite some time. Please visit their website and you will know these guys seek the Lord and want Him to receive the Glory from their music. It reminds me of Third Day's album Move in that it is encouraging Christians that may be facing doubts and fears and hard times to just put their trust in the One who will truly never leave us or forsake us. It is said that every artist has an album that they peak at, or is their best album and I think Building 429 has it here. Albums like this not only make me appreciate being a fan of Building 429, but of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Well done guys!

I am so new to digital downloading but I am so glad I started with this one. Building429 is a great band. All of the songs are great, but "Where I Belong" is the BEST!
