The Best Yet,

I have been enjoying TQ's music for the moment I heard Westside. His first album was great, his second I thought was just as great, and his third is the best one yet. The lyrics really go deep which is what music needs these days. So many songs out now are full of the same garbage talking about girls in the club and their cars. My favorites are "Gone But Not Forgotten" and "Until". I have a radio show with my school's radio station and I play at least 4 to 5 tracks off of this album every show. The public needs to know about the pure talent of TQ. People who didn't know about that have heard it play have loved it. If you are thinking of buying this album, stop thinking and pick it up.

I've respected TQ's lyrical ability for a few years now, since the release of "They Never Saw Me Coming". This is the first album since that I've purchased of TQ, although I've heard a few tracks by him in the intervening years. This album ("Listen" if you don't remember :P) is pretty solid. It starts off with a nice intro and goes into his current single, "Right On," which is a pretty good cut. I won't do a track by track breakdown, but a few cuts on this album are damned good. A few notables (besides "Right On"):
"Listen" - The title track. Nice production & TQ shines on this track. "Fly" - Kinda like a sequel to "If the World Was Mine" "Gone But Not Forgotten" - A tribute to the artists no longer living. "Relax" - The song is just what its name implies - relaxing. Just a cut you can sit back and chill to. "Until" - I believe this is a Prince remake, and TQ does a nice job breaking out the old skool. Honestly, I like the entire album. My only issue with "Listen" is that it should've been longer. It has only 12 tracks total, and I wish TQ would've added a few more songs to enhance it. Then I would've felt comfortable giving the album 5 stars. A good investment nontheless.

Highly underrated,

Every so often comes an artist with skill that simply surpasses that of his contemporaries. TQ is one such artist. Every single song on this album was written and produced by him, except for the Prince remake, of course. His voice is as a good as, if not better, than R. Kelly's and his lyrics are poignant, powerful, and relevant to current life. It is certainly a change from his first cd, which told a story from beginning to end and represented both ghetto fantasy and mature, realistic tracks that commonly used single verse guest appearances from other rap artists to alter the tone of the album in places. However, he is capable of singing in different ways that continue to hold interest and blend with the beats to produce some seriously ill tracks. Instead of the storytelling focus of his first cd, he focuses more on life in ghetto from a general perspective, but still drops Angela Jones, a highly memorable track about a woman whose husband got killed and had to make money by selling her body. I bet you can guess how the song ends; it certainly ain't a happy ending. I can't compare it to his second cd that was only released in Europe as I haven't been able to get ahold of it, so I can't say anything about that. Get this cd if you like complex lyrics and music with deep instrumentals.
