5.0 out of 5 stars Listen to Your Body by Niels H. Lauersen MD, July 23, 2006
This review is from: Listen to Your Body: A Gynecologist Answers Women's Most Intimate Questions (Paperback)
This is an excellent work on the inner workings of the feminine
body and hormonal chemistry. The author explains the interplay
between the Pituitary gland, the Follicle Stimulating Hormone,
eggs and the production of estrogen. The Graffian follicle bubbles from the ovary for a trip to the womb. There are sketches depicting menstrual cramps and the pelvic tilt. Reduced sperm counts and male infertility are described. Female infertility is set forth to include vaginal infections, endometriosis and gonnorhea via unprotected sexual intercourse. Hormonal imbalances are another reason for potential infertility. The author describes surrogate parenthood and miscarriage due to hormonal imbalances. The proper use of home pregnancy tests is set forth
with success rates of up to 90% within weeks of a missed period.

Overall, the presentation has many practical examples of how
to manage the hormonal dimension of various stages of womanhood.
Even physical therapy is depicted when medically appropriate.
The book is a good acquisition for providing quality information
on a variety of complex questions posed with regard to female
hormonal balance and management thereof. The author advises
readers to seek second opinions when appropriate.
