This is a good primer for learning the languages of the Bible. There are helps here that will be of use in a Sunday School Class as well as in the pulpit. We need a better understanding of the words use in Hebrew and the culture that surrounds them. I highly recommend this one but don't stop here.

This is a great start....,
This review is from: Listening to the Language of the Bible (Paperback)
This book is a very good introduction to some of the more important and fundamental words and concepts of Biblical Hebrew. However, it is just an introduction and barely scratches the surface of the richness and depth of even the words presented.
I recommend this book to those who are interested in getting an introductory boost in their Biblical vocabulary or for learning more about the Hebrew Bible, in general. This would also make a great book for group study, especially with a knowledgeable teacher.

If you are interested in the Jewish context of Jesus's time and understand what the bible translations (anything English is) on certain passages actually mean! It is a good starting book for anyone who will like to converse with Jewish friends who are religious:-)

This book is excellent. I have purchased many copies to give as gifts and recommend it highly. Simple, easy to read, well-written devotions give the reader insight into spiritual significance of 60 different Hebrew words used in the Bible. Anyone interested in understanding the Bible should read this book.

This book is a must for understanding the New Testament and gives an excellent insight to the preaching and parables of Jesus. It is the perfect companion to Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus.Since I lead Bible Study classes these two books will be well worn!

Easy to read, daily size readings work very well with a study group. One of the best studies I have read/done in quite a while. Using the Companion Study Book takes it to a much deeper level.

What a delightful book. Its short essays about hebraic ideas unlock the deeper meaning of many hard-to-understand ideas in the Bible.
Highly recommended.

not surprised,
This review is from: Listening to the Language of the Bible (Paperback)
I read the book with an open mind to the author's viewpoint. I found the book to be decent devotional material. On the other hand, the author gave me the impression that the portions of scripture that he covered could not be fully understood without a knowledge of the original language. I disagree with him, for this book didn't teach me anything that the Holy Spirit hasn't already shown me through my personal bible study using nothing more than a King James Bible.
