Book Description

January 15, 2002
The new edition of this classic text describes in detail the diagnostic techniques of all disorders of the hand and wrist, and the indications for surgery (or other treatment) for each disorder. The only book available on diagnosis and indications for hand surgery, it covers injury, reconstruction, compression, inflammation, swelling, congenital disorders, and more. In addition, it is extensively cross-referenced to the current edition of Green's OPERATIVE HAND SURGERY, so that once a diagnosis has been reached, the reader may refer to the relevant section of Green for full operative details. With nearly 1,400 black-and-white photos and over 100 line illustrations, Lister's THE HAND, 4TH EDITION provides a detailed and thorough review of all aspects of the diagnosis and indications for treatment in hand surgery.

I have this last edition of the Lister's classical book, here you find the very specifical indication in hand's treatment and diagnosis, in some cases you may go to other books and have a very wide field in the pathology and treatment of hand injuries.
Maybe if u are full time in hand surgery you may buy The Green's Textbook, but for a plastic surgeon or orthopaedical surgeon( both in general practice) its a very wide and comprehensive book.

5.0 out of 5 stars concise, comprehensive guide to the hand, January 9, 2007

Lister's is a readable text on management of a comprehensive range of hand related conditions and injuries. Thouroughly recommend for trainees and surgeons in orthopaedics and Plastic and Reconstuctive Surgery. Greens is better as a reference for specific operations.
