"Lisztomania" is the catchy,Beatles-esque ode to the Ken Russell/The Who flick Lisztomania from the Gallic indie rock band Phoenix. It's humorous, tongue in cheek, and managed to be on SNL. It's toe-tapping fun! Get into the Liszt mania!

A clever song, I first heard it on SNL and had to track it down and make it mine. Fun enough to make you want to get up and dance, even if you quickly think better of it, it's high energy, low drag... May even inspire you to look up, if not actually watch, The Who project that it probably drew its name from...

Finally something unique in all the drivel that is music these days. I LOVE this song.

A Multi-hybrid car Pile-up,

This song makes me wonder how many hipsters have to agree that a bad song is good before the rest of the herd piles on. It seems to compound itself so quickly that, next thing you know, all of the 'cool' people know precisely what they should be listening to at all times.
This is one of those recordings: you might buy it because all of the other club-members are doing it, but you don't listen to it because it doesn't take long for your ears force your brain to square itself with reality...and admit it sucks. Stop the madness and buy a recording that you really want. Don't worry, in the Ipod age no one can see what your listening to anyway. Buy the freakin' shirt and spare your ears the torment. |
