i fist heard of these guys in the metal edge magazine, and always looking for some more good music i decided to give them a try.man am i glad i did, this album is awesome, every song is great.the band at times sound a bit like faster pussycat,or old motley crue, and sometimes a hint of guns and roses. The guitar work is very good and the lyrics.give this album a try you wont be sorry, they are a very good band and i cant wait to hear some more from them!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock like it should be!, August 25, 2007
By C. Dittmer (Lincoln, NE) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Remember the first Motely Crue album? Or L.A. Guns? The raw intensity? The fun? This is Vains of Jenna. A return to the sunset strip a la 1987. The have it all from the clothing, to the sneer to the sleazy lyrics and swagger. Except it's 2007 and we've been begging to have this music back on the air waves and in the record stores. Buy it! Enjoy it! Throw your fist in the air and bang your head!

4.0 out of 5 stars From the depths of the 80s, June 7, 2007
Vains of Jenna appear as if they've come from the 80s with their wild hair, ripped clothing, and bandanas, but they've been together only since 2005. Considering their style of music is very similar to that of Faster Pussycat, Motley Crue, and perhaps even Guns N' Roses, the look is practically a requisite when mentally picturing the images of these famous bands. Thanks to Bam Margera and his record label, Filthy Note, Vains of Jenna have received more publicity than they would be getting with another unfamiliar label. However, notorious label or not, they're quietly making a name for themselves.

Lit Up/Let Down is untamed, dirty, and fun - this is no surprise since the lineup consists of four young musicians. The songs Vains of Jenna have put together are impressive, but they could be more polished. The vocals aren't exactly beautiful, and the lyrics aren't brilliant, but this is how it should sound if an 80s emulation is the motive (and it is, according to the band's biography). The riffs are grungy and catchy, and the last two acoustic songs are nice endings to the album. Simply put, Lit Up/Let Down rocks. Expect greater things in the future, though.
