Have never had any problems with Amazon before, but this time they kept shipping the wrong drive and now they are refunding the purchase price. I don't want a refund, I want the drive I ordered since they still show it to be in stock. Had problems with Buy.com before and they made everything right - a good retailer. Return shipping was free so that was nice, but still no drive and had the hassle of having to go to UPS drop off twice.

One reviewer claimed this is just a CD-RW drive not a combo drive as advertised. Not so, the SOHC-5232K is a combo drive, but the drive they shipped was not a SOHC-5232K.

Worked as claimed, only problem- there was no accompanying cd burning software with it. But then at the price I got it, it was still worth it. Free udf writing software from HP worked fine with it.

I can understand the frustration of other buyers as I had to return the wrong drive twice. My understanding is that what Amazon actually got were just the CD RW drives and the price too fits that category but erroneously they had labeled them as CD RW DVD combos. I am not sure what Office Depot and Circuit City are shipping but their price suggests that they should be shipping the combo. But folks, we need to admit that Amazon is doing a good job and at time things might go wrong since humans do fail at times. It took a while for Amazon to understand the problem and once they knew the problem they removed it from their inventory. The delay in the reordering should be due to the fact that Amazon does not have the combo drives with them. I actually ended up ordering the "SAMSUNG Internal 52x32x52x CD-RW plus DVD-ROM Combo Drive". I haven't tested it properly still but so far I like the drive. I will post my comments under that drive very soon. Again folks, let us accept the fact that Amazon too can err at times and we need to be accommodative. Overall their service and prices and the quality of products are very good.

Ordered 2 from Amazon.com and was shipped SOHR-5238S drives, which are CD-RW drives only. 52x32x52. They are the new version of the 52327S drives that had EEproms.
The correct drives are good drives and do read DVD,s. Do a search on Amazon.com and look at all the products listed "new and used" and you will see that a lot of them list the wrong drive. Look at the SKU number. It should be SOHC-5232K.
It should have "DVD" right in the middle of the tray.
Be careful where you order.

This is actually just a CD-RW drive, not a DVD-ROM drive as advertised. Do not buy it if you planning to play DVD because it will not work. That is what I experienced and had to send it back. For just a regular CD-RW it is way too noisy and overpriced. I would recommend buying a DVD burner for $10 more and be safe for the future.

Like many others, I've ordered Amazon numerous times, but this instance was atrocious. Having shipped the wrong item like the other reviewers, I decided to opt for a replacement, only to find that the estimated delivery date would be 2 months from today! What's more surprising is that I can go ahead and order from Office Depot via Amazon.com and receive it in 7 days along with the $15 increase.

I was shipped an incorrect drive 2 times and given the run around about a problem with their bins. Be very careful if ordering this drive, because you will not get the drive mentioned. Never doing business with amazon again.
