Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

If you're looking for a progressive-scan DVD player with MPEG-4 compatibility, the Lite-On LVD2002 DVD player is an affordable choice with powerful features. This progressive-scan DVD player plays DVDs, VCDs, and CDs formatted witt MPEG-4 video, as well as MP3 and WMA audio and JPEG still images.

The back of the LVD2002 has the following ports: component-video out, S-Video out, composite out, coaxial digital out, and optical digital out.

Other features include:

  • Burn JPEGs onto a CD or DVD disc and then place the disc into the player for television viewing
  • Multilanguage support (English/traditional Chinese/simple Chinese/German)
  • NTSC/PAL TV system compatible
  • Still image 4-way rotation
  • DVD video/picture zoom-in function

Tech Talk

  • Progressive scan: Also called sequential scanning, a progressive-scan system displays the entire image--providing all the horizontal lines per frame, rather than every other line--once every 60th of a second. This method reduces flicker and increases stability. Progressive-scan viewing requires a compatible digital TV.
  • Component video: Unlike a single video input, component video maintains the video signal as three separate signals through these three jacks. This connection provides optimum quality. To ensure maximum picture quality, use three video-grade cables for the Y, Pb, and Pr connections.
  • VCD: Video CD (VCD) is a video standard that can store audio and video to a compact disc (rather than a DVD disc) using MPEG-1 compression. You can fit up to 74 minutes of video with audio onto a VCD-formatted CD, but you can expect the video quality to be similar to that of a VHS videotape.

What's in the Box
LVD2002 DVD Player, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, RCA cable, and user's manual.

This review is from: Lite-On LVD2002 DVD Player (Electronics)
Just opened the box 20 min ago. Pop in different kinds of DVD disc and MP3 disc as well as DivX disc. All run flawlessly. The main reason for me to buy this player is to have DivX play, also, the new wma play feature is attractive.

One issue though, when playing MP3, it can't allow random playing! For those who have 100+ songs on one disc, this is very inconvenient. It is purely a software/firmware issue and should have been solved long time ago.

Same happens to JPG play back, but it is less hassle.

Overall, it is a neat machine. Haven't tried the progressive scan since all component inputs are back of my TV. Should be good.

The video/audio quailty is good, well, up to my anticipation.
