I bought 3 of these several years ago. The first thing I did was take off the cage around the light. I know it's there for safety reasons but it really gets in the way. I love the lamp because it clamps on to most table fairly easy. It's well constructed. I have bent them into tons of shapes and haven't broken them yet. I have a display at a trade show and I can direct the bright lights where I need them the most. I do have to say that the light gets very hot (thus the cages) but I always tell people not to touch them. I did bake an apple with one once! It was delicious. I teach drawing class and had the light on an apple for about an hour and it cooked it!

I have had these lights for sometime now and they work with my display at trade shows very well. I also use them when teaching drawing to shine a light on my subjects. I removed the safety cage because they were falling off anyway and I didn't like the look of them. They run rather hot thought so I warn people not to touch them. I may buy a few more if I need them.

This lamp won my heart from the moment it emerged from the box. After trying many, many clamp- and gooseneck-lamps throughout my life, at last a winner!! This lamp is made of heavy-duty metal parts, so has enough heft to feel really sturdy (no horrid, flimsy plastic clamp on this item!). The clamp is both strong and well-designed: it opens wide enough to attach to a thick table or shelf (1 1/4 inches thick is about ideal--see my photograph) and its pads are well-placed -- unlike some clamps, in my too-vast experience, which are placed such that they actually hinder the proper grip rather than help it. The gooseneck is strong enough to hold up its own weight without moving so much as an INCH; it is infinitely adjustable, allowing the finest degree of control, without sagging or springing back into some default position. I have tried "professional" architectural drafting lamps whose clamps and adjustability absolutely pale in comparison to this one. Buck up and spend the money on this item: it will last and last, and will prove to you how excellent a product this is. Highly recommended for both craft projects and reading. While I like this lamp, and I am keeping it, it is overpriced. I immediately replaced the halogen bulb with a High Power 6W LED MR16 GU10 base Flood 45° Soft White Lamp. It was a very good choice for this lamp.

The good:

Nice appearance
Strong gooseneck

The bad:

Cage is obtrusive, but easily removed for LED use
Clamp is weak (I drilled two holes in the upper clamp and screwed it to my workstation).

I am keeping it because I need a good high intensity lamp for my electronics workstation and this fits the bill. It mates up perfectly with the Artisan Lighted Magnifying Daylight Desk Lamp w/Clamp, which has a more fluorescent quality. Between the two, doing close electronic assembly is easier and much more gratifying.

I bought one; I bought a second; now I'm buying a third. I love the endless possibilities of this lamp. Very well made product with a strong, very useful, padded clamp.

Pros:
Sturdy
Probably can handle lots of abuse
Clamp is strong

Cons:
Basically a gooseneck flash light
Shoots a beam of light onto one spot (so don't buy if you're looking for a desk lamp)
Short cord (maybe 3-4 feet tops)

This product was very good. It was purchased as a gift. The recipient could not use it so I returned the item. The company provided support for returning this item. They were very helpful.
