4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, timeless, perfect for younger readers., January 25, 1998
This review is from: Literature Guide: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Grades 4-8) (Paperback)
It is interesting to note that, as Clive Staples Lewis' non-fictional apologetic works seem to be going "out of fashion" in favor of works from more sophisticated theologians with 1990's sensibilites, the Chronicles of Narnia, introduced by the above title, have neither lost their audience or power. This is to be expected. I'm thankful for such a quality series, which can be read simply as exciting out-of-this-world fantasy, or for those up to the challenge, as a complicated allegorical system. This story has a remarkable reputation with youngsters, but any adult who has yet to read it will find it suprisingly rewarding.
