I live in a small town with a long line of power poles between the power company and here. On top of that, the small town lives in an area where severe storms happen 7 months out of the year. When (not if) a storm plows through with 100mph winds, it tends to tear lines and poles down. Sitting in the dark for 30 minutes to an hour happens a lot.

I bought 2 of these emergency lighting lamps and installed them in out-of-the-way areas in my house. They work exactly as described. Every time a severe storm comes through and knocks out the power, I know that my rooms will be lit up by the strong lighting these units put out. No more tripping in pitch blackness, no more smacks in the shin by furniture.

Not quite as simple an installation as described. Must be hardwired into a 4" square or octagon junction box. We bought two as gifts and one for ourselves. We will be installing our own, but will replace the gifts with something else that does not require reconfiguration of our friends homes or an electrician for those who don't do electricity. The style is very nice and will serve us well in the Pacific Northwest with all our power outages.

For the money this is a great buy when the power goes out which it did last nite this lite does its job lighting up my rooms so I don't have to stumble in the dark to get to a flash lite. You can aim the lights in different ways.It is so easy to wire up.I have one upstairs and one in the basement. They are great.
