I use 7 or 8 different Lithuanian dictionaries. Obviously, which one is "best" depends on what your task is. For very formal communications or for finding meanings for obscure words, my expensive two volume set is probably the best. But for day-to-day or carry-in-your pocket use, no one beats Jurgita Baltrusaityte. If you are going to vacation in Lithuania, I'd definitely take this one. Many of the other Lithuanian travel dictionaries are quite weak. Ms. Baltrusaityte has a very good section on proper verb forms and the different tenses. My more typical dictionaries do not cover grammar. We've run through four or five copies of this one because we keep giving it away when we encounter Americans in Lithuania. Well-worth the modest price.

I ordered this book about a month before my first trip to Lithuania. I had only known very little Lithuanian, so this book was very helpful for me being a beginner. Some of my favorite qualities of the book were how the it explained different parts of the culture, such as eating out, staying with locals, and how to shop. I found that extremely helpful and was able to be more prepared. Also, the book will have the part of the word that is emphasized underlined, so it's easier to learn how to pronounce it. I give the book 5 stars out of 5, while I will give shipping of the item from the seller 2 out of 5.

This dictionary is great not only for the definitions, but also for the grammar and phrase section at the beginning. Good little lessons and a quick overview of grammar.

This is a great introductory phrasebook for those who are interested in the Lithuanian language. One of the best aspects of this book is the emphasized syllable in each word is underlined for many of the phrases - for those who have been learning this language you know how frustrating it can be to not know which syllable to emphasize since there is no concrete system behind that aspect. There are hundreds of phrases to learn that are mostly aimed at helping you navigate the actual country - airports, restaurants, etc, as well as general conversation. It also has brief discussions about cases, verbs, names etc - which advanced students will already know but beginners may be a little stumped by. Resources for Lith are a bit lacking, so this is a must have for any student of this language, and for the price, you can't beat it. The dictionary (Lith and English) is fairly extensive so if you enjoy translating sentences for practice it's very convenient. All in all, I'm very glad I purchased this book. Sekmės! This is a good book for getting your point accross when there is a Lithuaian / Eighish gap.
