You have to think outside of the box.,

A lot of people are complaining about throwing these out because they get banged up. I collect plastic bags every time I go to the store then I put a plastic bag in the tray and I just have to empty that. It is very easy and you can make 1 tray last a long time.

Not as sturdy as the older ones,

It appears that they have changed the way these are made.
When I first got my littermaid (which is a wonderful product!) I got replacement liners. They were all white and plastic. There were quite sturdy and I would replace them monthly (I would give them a quick rinse if needed). So doing that, the cost of the liners were well worth it. However, these replacement liners are terrible! They are a clear, flimsy plastic that rips/tears very easily. I have found that they tear away from the litterbox holder (where you push the liner underneath so it catches in the holder) and litter gets spilled underneath the litterbox. I am going to try the suggestions of the other reviewers and line them with the plastic bags. Hopefully that will get me back to multiple uses, because the price is way to high for the quality of the product.

Here's a money saving compromise..,

I buy these but extend the use by taking those plastic shopping bags to line them. When I empty it, I take the bag out and tie it up, throw it out! I can use one of these for about 4 or 5 changes before I need a new one. You would think Littermaid would design a sturdy one, sell the bags, and make some money on that!

Receptacles fit nicely and are easy to use. Lids attach securely so long as you don't overfill.

Product made worse by manufacturer,

When I bought the Littermaid litter box,it came with litter receptacles that were acceptable in quality but when I purchased refills I learned that the manufacturer has downgraded the quality of the receptacles. The manufacturer has informed me that good ones are no longer available. The new ones are made of plastic so thin, they collapse when one tries to remove them from the littermaid and one ends up with cat waste on ones hands. Need I say more?

Suggestion for saving some MONEY,

Put grocery bags or small trash bag around the liner. That way you are able to reuse the liner and get your monies worth from them. I have tried this method and am real pleased. If you are creative you won't have to remove the liner and take the chances of breaking the liner. Even with the liner being broken it will still work.

Needs revamped, made cheaper,

Of all the things I have bought in my day, these things by far are the most over-priced item out there for what you get. Honestly, a piece of plastic for your cat's doo-doo, and a lid. Give me a break! Maybe they should charge $10 each for them, maybe they could stay in business with that! I guess that's where their money stays consistent after you buy the Littermaid box but really!
Anyway, with that gripe out of the way, these things work fairly well. They do get heavy and the doo-doo can spill out if you're not careful, but I just empty mine into one of those plastic grocery store bags, tie it, and dispose of it the night before garbage day. That way, it's not smelling up the garbage, the house, the garage, the garbage man's hands or face, and it just works out very well. But if you have more than one cat and high usage, then maybe a galvanized can for the disposal of the grocery store bags would be in order if you're emptying it more than once a week. My cat goes outside sometimes so I don't have as much to worry about smell-wise. But if I still lived in my apartment with this thing, I'd be emptying the liner contents into the grocery bag and taking it out to the dumpster daily. It just keeps everyone happy that way. These things curb the odor some, but not that much. Let's keep our fingers crossed that someone out there can make a better and cheaper widget for this machine.

Save your money and line the receptacles you receive with your LitterMaid with cat pan liners. ...you can get 40 liners as opposed to 2 of these receptacles, and it actually makes disposal of the waste easier.

Nice to see a lower priced alternative - but...,
By I wish there was a way to search for ONLY goods sold DIRECTLY by Amazon so you know you can get the free shipping, tired of finding things and then finding they're from a 3rd party without free shipping.

Not as easy as it should be,

It's a good concept but the tray is poorly designed and does not fit into the automatic litter box easily. It is also difficult to remove the waste recptacle once it is full. Because the lid does not securly fasten to the receptacle, litter tends to fly all over the place as you attempt to remove it. Yes it's nice not to have to scoop the box every night but it certainly can become a messy ordeal once the receptacle needs to be changed. This product is also very over priced. It's just plastic.
