Great show for children,
This review is from: Little Bear - Rainy Day Tales (DVD)
My 2 year old loves Little Bear. My older daughter also used to watch it as a toddler when it aired on Nick Jr. This DVD includes many Little Bear episodes:
- Rain Dance Play - Hiccups - Mitzi's Mess - The Puddle Jumper - Caterpillars - Follow the Leader - Little Bear's Mermaid - Hop Frog Pond - Duck, Babysitter - Party at Owl's House - Picnic on Pudding Hill - Little Bear's Sweet Tooth It is such a relaxing & tranquil show my son loves to watch it before he takes his nap.

Great for any day,,,not just a rainy day!!!,
This review is from: Little Bear - Rainy Day Tales (DVD)
First, if your child loves Little Bear on Noggin or Nick Jr, he or she will love this DVD, because it is comprised of many short episodes like on TV, so it doesn't lose their attention. Second, you will love it too because it is a great value! You get about 2 hours of episodes, whereas the usual children's DVD is only 45 minutes or an hour. As you know, Little Bear teaches great lessons about friendship and kindness. This DVD is great for any day, not just a rainy day!

Our 4 year old and our 1 year old sit mesmerized by this DVD when we have it on. It is a remarkably long running DVD, compromised of many short episodes of Little Bear - such sweet story lines that capture the attention of little people.

As a grandmother I am particular about what my grandchildren watch. When my first grandchild (now age 10) was a toddler one of the two programs we watched together was Little Bear. My youngest grandchild is now two and since Little Bear no longer is shown on TV I have given her the DVDs. I love that they teach about everyday feelings and situations and they are very calming before nap or bedtime. We also have the books we read from. I have also noticed that when I put them on for my 2 and 6 year old granddaughters my 8 and 10 year old grandsons groan, but the next thing I know they are all four quietly watching.

Like all of the Little Bear videos, this charming collection of four 7-minute tales is so good that it almost justifies watching TV instead of playing outside! These stories are about kids just being kids (or rather, animal kids just being animal kids): exploring, playing with friends, laughing, and using their imagination to make up playful games with eachother. In this way, they are like A.A. Milne's original "Winnie the Pooh" stories, in which the characters' games and discoveries are the main attraction, and we come to love the characters not despite their flaws but because of them. And, in the Little Bear stories, mom and dad are supportive presences, mirroring the real world in which mom and dad are usually the most significant people in young children's lives.
My 3-year-old daughter loves the stories, and enjoys acting them out with me afterwards. The stories are neither too simple, nor too complicated. Similarly, the action unfolds at the perfect pace for young kids, neither the sluggish pace of Mr. Rogers nor the frantic and incomprehensible jump-cuts of the Power Rangers. Little Bear won't insult your kids' intelligence, and you may enjoy them yourself, too! Unlike so much of TV/movies for kids, the Little Bear stores are not about conflicts with bad people [who, invariably, are bad for no reason other than to move the plot along (e.g., the wicked queen or stepmother, etc.)], or are about loud-mouthed kids who argue with each other and avoid adults at all times (Rugrats and the like). I recommend all of the Little Bear stories, and the Little Bear show on Nicklelodeon, for any parent who want a positive alternative to the brain-rotting noise that one usually finds on TV. I don't know about you, but personally I am tired of trying to answer my daughter when she asks why the Bad Guy is so bad. I suppose that there is a time and place for simplistic Good-versus-Evil morality tales, but I would much rather teach my daughter about real people and the real world, where people aren't simply Evil or Good, and where instead understanding and cooperation are the main skills in life. In the real world the primary moral imperative is usually "be a nice person", not to "resist Evil." Again I don't know about you, but I am saddened by the fact that my daughter does not like Disney stories because they always have so many scary parts. Who likes to explain to their child that Cruella deVille wants to kill the puppies, gleefully and with malice, just to make a pretty fur coat?! Is this really the sort of thing we want to expose young children to?? Hurray for Little Bear!

Wonderful if your child is hooked on Little Bear then they will love this. Talk about a real life saver--when the show ends on Noggin my son always wants more, how wonderful to avoid the meltdown by just popping it in the DVD. My son is only 2 and he knows all the characters by name.

A value buy and quality show for little ones!,
This review is from: Little Bear - Rainy Day Tales (DVD)
This DVD Little Bear "Rainy Day Tales" contains 12 episodes - including 4 from the Rainy Day Tales, and also episodes from Summertime Tales, and Parties and Picnics. For the money, it is indeed a value buy. The language is clean, and the characters, i.e. Little Bear and friends, are truly endearing. My 3 year-old loves it. i admit i do not much care for most of the kids' shows on television these days - the animation and colors are too bright and garish, and the dialogue leaves much to be desired. So, I have been going back to old staples like Little Bear, and classic Disney shows. This is a good production for young children, and a value buy. Highly recommended!

It took my 2 1/2 year old son a while to warm up to Little Bear, but now he loves it! We especially like Mitzi's Mess because it shows how easily little ones make a mess, and that they should always clean it up! The episodes aren't too long for short attention spans, and are very sweet!

My toddler and I love little bear. It is one of the few videos that make him laugh outloud. The stories are so sweet and well told. They are simple enough that the stories don't lose him and they are complex enough that they warrant repeat viewings. Any Little Bear DVD is a wonderful addition to a toddlers library (I can't say that for the full length movie though - haven't seen it and heard it was only so-so)

I think this is the best cartoon for boys and girls ever made...Seriously.
My son started to watch Little Bear on DVD around 15 months and continues to ask for it almost daily. He LOVES all the characters on this show. As a parent who does not own a TV and selects Programs carefully, I can tell you what I LOVE about this show 1-The Stories are simple and short (7 min. each). The themes are music, nature, imagination and friendship. 2-The Characters: Little Bear is a sweet, kind, thoughtful, curious, and just character. His friends are all wonderful and quirky. The dynamics presented between little bear and his family are wonderfully ideal. 3-The animation is terrific and all the music is great I think my son has actually learned (or at least been reinforced) some very positive social skills from this show. I wish I could find another program as good as this. Rainy Day Tales is a great collection and a good place to start. But I recommend all the DVDs if you like Little Bear. |
