This CD has been out for a year and I can't belive I am the first to write a review. Let me say right up front that I am a die hard Colin James fan but I don't hand out 5 Star ratings lightly -- I didn't give his "National Steel" 5 Stars. The man is amazing; Blues, Rock, Big Band... there isn't anything he can't sing! Although his first Little Big Band CD is my least favorite of all his recordings this one is undeniably his best, surpasing LBB 2 by a long shot.

With each CD James just keeps getting better and better. I guarantee you won't be able to sit still while listening to this CD, especially during "Where Y'at". "Lonely Avenue" and "That's Where It's At" will blow you away and the sax arrangements totally rock! Put this CD on, turn the volume UP...way UP, grab your baby and dance! BUY this CD Now!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Band rocking blues not to be missed., January 2, 2011

This guy will probably never become mainstream, which is sad. His band rocks with a flawless mix of rock, blues and big band. It's toe tappin' music of the best kind. It rings as true today in 2011 as it would have in 1950. the music simultaneously has a contemporary feel and a warm way-back boogie core. It is delightful to listen to casually and if you have an ear for it, deeper listening is rewarded by the many nuances in the production, including a wide sonic spectrum of highs and lows, great bass lines, kickin' drums, jazzy/rock guitars, great horns and a vocal that holds it all together. This guy, Colin James and his "little big band" are seriously under-appreciated. Consider this a gift to yourself. If you like exposing your friends to great new music, look no further.

I love every Colin James and The Little Big Band CDs. You cannot go wring with such a talented musician. I highly recommend any CD from Colin. He is one of the most talented and versatile musicians around. Every song on this CD is great! A few of my favorites are: That's What Love Is Made Of, Please, Baby Don't Do That, Reet Petite and Lonely Avenue.
