5.0 out of 5 stars Such an awesome debut!

I have been a fan of Little Big Town since I saw their first video on GAC and have been anxiously awaiting this CD. It was well worth the wait!! The songs are all well-written (6 of the 10 by LBT) and performed with heart by Jimi, Karen, Kimberly, and Phillip. I love the way that they change-up their singing (unlike Trick Pony, where Heidi sings lead most of the time)...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Beginning for Little Big Town
This is a very good CD, but not a great one. Little Big Town's next 2 CD's are much better & very, very good. If you haven't listened to Little Big Town, check 'em out right away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such an awesome debut!, May 28, 2002
This review is from: Little Big Town (Audio CD)

I have been a fan of Little Big Town since I saw their first video on GAC and have been anxiously awaiting this CD. It was well worth the wait!! The songs are all well-written (6 of the 10 by LBT) and performed with heart by Jimi, Karen, Kimberly, and Phillip. I love the way that they change-up their singing (unlike Trick Pony, where Heidi sings lead most of the time) on their debut album. This CD is great for long car rides, just put the windows down, crank it up and sing along!

Their hot first single is a great, positive song, as are the rest on the record. "Everything Changes" is an upbeat, catchy song and "Pontiac" has a great message about getting away from it all. "Never Felt Love" has a great acapella ending and "A Thousand Years" is another catchy, very singable song. Another upbeat song with a positive message is "Tryin'", they sing "it's about livin' instead of dyin', it's about spreadin' your wings and flyin'...it's all about tryin'". There is also an incredible ballad by the name of "Stay" on the CD - Kimberly's voice is so powerful, it is great!

"Still" is personally my favorite song on the CD - I love the harmonies on the chorus. All the songs on this CD are really awesome though, I listen to it constantly and try to catch LBT's live show whenever they are nearby.

If you want to hear the future of country music, buy this CD, you will not regret it! LBT will be around for a long, long time!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique talent, June 6, 2002
This review is from: Little Big Town (Audio CD)
Little Big Town should hit the big time. If you are looking for a traditional country album, you won't find it - otherwise, you'll be pleased. They effectively switch between male and female singers in the same song. And their harmonies are heavenly. The female singers are better solo than the male singers, but they all can sing. There are a few songs with good, assertive lyrics. When the material is ordinary, like on "A Thousand Years" and "Never Felt Love," the harmonies still add personality. And the fairly acoustic arrangements avoid sounding just like everything else on country radio. They're no Dixie Chicks yet, but when they can produce more material as strong as "Stay," and when they perfect their sound, they'll be a force to be reckoned with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Big Town is Great!, October 22, 2005
This review is from: Little Big Town (Audio CD)
I've heard this album panned. It was even on some type of list on Amazon for CD's NOT to buy. That upset me a lot! I don't understand it. This group is amazing and I love their sound. I loved this CD and think it was well worth the money! The second CD is very good, too, so buy them both!

I saw this band as an opening act for Phil Vassar recently and was absolutely blown away by their talent. They mix the vocals and switch off lead and harmony like no other! Anyone who sings knows just how difficult this is to do. They are talented and wonderful entertainers. They should be very successful in anything they try to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome harmony, can't-get-them-out-of-my-head lyrics, June 21, 2002

This CD is GREAT! The vocals are great individually, and the blended harmonies are absolutely the BEST I've heard. Many of the songs are so fun to sing, like "Don't Waste My Time", "Everything Changes", and "Pontiac", that I often catch myself singing them, so much so that even my 7- and 3-year-old kids have begun to sing along with me! We are all huge fans! I'm not surprised they were the #1 top-selling CD at Fan Fair. Everywhere we went we ran into LBT fans. Lookout skeptics because, ready or not, LBT is here for a good time AND a long time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Vocals, Harmony, excellent sound!, May 29, 2002
By A Customer

If you took the Eagles and made two of them women...that's Little Big Town. Their sound is smooth and rythmic...the harmony is incredible...their voices blend fantastically! The lyrics are familiar enough to pull you in, yet fresh enough to keep you listening over and over again!...The sheer beauty of the instrumentation and vocals coming together is priceless...they are excellent musicians who have put together a top rate album! I'd buy it again...and again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best album ever!!, March 16, 2005

I have been a Little Big Town fan ever since I saw them open for Keith Urban in June of 2004. They blew me away with their harmonies and how much talent they have. I bought the CD and it has quickly become my favorite CD in my collection of over 1200 albums. Everyone should hear this CD. It's wonderful. I have to disagree with the review of how the CD was recorded. I think they were geniuses to do it the way the did. As a result, it sounds so different than anything else I've ever heard. That is what makes it the great album it is.

Also, these guys are the friendliest people I've ever met. I love them all to death. I've met lots of performers, but these guys are by far the best. I now consider them more as friends than as performers. They leave the competition in the dust. Phillip, Kimberly, Jimi, and Karen are the hottest things out of Nashville with more raw talent in singing, songwriting, and performing than any other act in any genre of music.

I heard this group sing the National Anthem at a Nascar race and had to buy their CD. I haven't heard a group sound so fresh and talented as this one. Their music and harmony is truly beautiful. The lyrics are so thought provoking. This group has all the elements to make it really big.

I loved this Group the first time I heard them. Took me forever to find out their name. You need to get this Group more radio, tv, and what ever. Tell about the band members. Kimberly Davis (45)years old. There wasn't a person who heard this group that didn't love them.

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing harmony, July 12, 2002
This review is from: Little Big Town (Audio CD)
Until Little Big Town, i had never honestly loved every track to a CD before. The great combination of two women and two men (a first for country music) provides such a wonderful harmony that i cannot stop listening! Considering that this is Little Big Town's debut album, I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us in the future.
