Laced with elements of ragtime, country, folk and rockabilly, the critically praised, drummer-less trio – consisting of guitarist/front man Pete Bernhard, stand-up bassist Lucia Turino and guitarist Cooper McBean – brings forth a genuine approach to acoustic music ... Editorial Reviews

Mixing styles from the ragtime and country music of the twenties and thirties to the rock and roll and punk music of their adolescence, The Devil Makes Three pushes the boundaries of acoustic music. The band combines tight vocal harmonies with fingerstyle guitar to create an exciting and original sound.

Their best album! I'm not usually a huge fan of bluegrass but I saw these guys at a show recently and they blew me away. Great musicianship, catchy vocals, biting, fun lyrics, wide range of styles. They blend an almost punky style with classic bluegrass riffs and themes. I just can't say enough about this band and this album in particular. It has been in heavy rotation on my iPod for a few months and it's not going away. That is saying something, as I have a *very* large collection. Give this album a chance, you might be surprised.

This may be The Devil Makes 3 at their best... they demonstrate their full range from playing old school folk, to blues rock, to down home bluegrass. I love this album more than I can even say! If you like TDM3 or even if you've never heard them and you like the above styles of music, you gotta check this one out!

These are live recordings of songs from their studio records and a couple they usually play at their shows that aren't on their records. The title refers to how they play a lot of their songs faster live than on their records, but since I like them fine I wouldn't agree that they are worse, haha.

This group has had my heart for years, since I lived in Santa Cruz myself. If you are a fan of blues, bluegrass, traditional country, drunken whiskey bar style blues country, this band will bring you hours of smiling foot tappin' good times. Personally I love their live recordings, I prefer them as a live band, and as far as "live" recordings go in general, this one is great quality.
