Editorial Reviews

Australian pressing. The Sunny Cowgirls debut album Little Bit Rusty marks the arrival of Australia's newest and most exciting country act. Like their Compass Bros stable mate Adam Brand, who discovered them at the CMAA College Of Country Music in Tamworth this year, the Sunny Cowgirls hail from WA, drive utes and sing songs that connect with rural and regional based Australians. Compass. 2005.

--INTRODUCTION::--

I have noticed that this CD has not yet sold a single copy at amazon, so I will review it breifly and try to convince people to buy it.

--ALBUM DESCRIPTION::--

This debut album from The Sunny Cowgirls debuted at #10 on the Country Albums Chart last month and debuted at #80 on the Australian albums chart this week.  The girls are sisters Sophie and Celeste who hail from Western Australia.   Listening to Slim Dusty and John Williams as children, they went on to study at the Country Music College of Australia and have performed at many talent quests, rodeos and agricultural shows.   They have even worked as jillaroos!

--TRACKLISTING::--

1 ROUSY'S LIFE

2 LITTLE BIT RUSTY

3 FLOWERS ON THE WALL

4 HOLDING ON

5 THAT'S WHAT IT'S LIKE

6 SOLD

7 ADVANCE MY SPARK

8 COUNTRY LOVIN' COWGIRLS

9 TAKE THESE WINGS

10 FOLSOM PRISON BLUES

11 COUNTRY FLIRTING

12 I'VE BEEN EVERYWHERE

--MY BIASED OPINION::--

12 songs which are ALL quite good. If you enjoyed the Waifs, or even the other Australian bands which are more mainstream such as George or John Butler Trio, you will probably like this release.

--CONCLUSION--::

If you like country or want to get in to true blue Australian music, get this immediatly!

Stunned that there aren't more reviews of the music made by these Australian sisters. This country duet is absolutely freakin' awesome. Little Bit Rusty was their first album...from back in 2005, I believe...but they now have 5 or 6 out. And there's not a bad effort in the bunch. Buy their CDs, or download on your kindle...but do something to discover their music. They are consistently on or near the top of the Australian country music charts. To all you country music fans....get out of Nashville for a bit, and discover Australian country. (Remember...Keith Urban is Australian...and the way he wrings the music out of his guitar is just plain sweet.)
