4.0 out of 5 stars Is a little knock-knock a dangerous thing?
We got this book because my four-year-old knew only one knock-knock joke (the one with the punchline "orange you glad I didn't say banana?"). Let us just say we were interested in expanding her repertoire!

2.0 out of 5 stars Two stars only because of the pictures...
So you think you're a knock-knock joke fan?

Well, then I strongly suggest that you don't buy this book because it will ruin your taste for jokes the very minute you open it.

I've got nothing bad to say about the pictures, which in fact are quite good.

However, the jokes themselves are all ones I've heard before, and most of them are so stupid that there's...

We got this book because my four-year-old knew only one knock-knock joke (the one with the punchline "orange you glad I didn't say banana?"). Let us just say we were interested in expanding her repertoire!

She adores this book, partly because of its small size (it's barely 3 inches square and fits her tiny hand), and partly because she now knows dozens and dozens of knock-knock jokes.

You may well find that cute for a while, although later on you may have to resist the urge to burn the book. Don't do it - she/he will pass through the knock-knock phase eventually, and you will come back around to finding this book charming.

Anyway that's what I hope!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a cute little book, August 13, 2003
This review is from: Little Book of Knock Knock Jokes (Hardcover)
I bought several of these for children's birthday gifts. Every child who got one was very pleased. My nephew told me that his 6-year-old daughter reads this book out loud in the car everywhere they go. These are great jokes for grade schoolers from pre-school to 3rd grade. Even the other seniors in my condo unit think the jokes were funny. I am a retired school teacher and know older children will not appreciate this book as much. A 12-year-old is obviously too old for this book. The pictures are beautifully done. I am very impressed that a child compiled this collection and wrote the introduction. I look forward to more books from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable!, June 4, 2003

We just got this book in the mail today and both my toddlers love it. My 3-1/2 year thinks it's hysterical. It is definitely not for older kids, but for any pre-schooler it's perfect. The jokes are easy to understand for little ones, the pictures are cute, and the tiny size is perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for laughs..., April 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Little Book of Knock Knock Jokes (Hardcover)
My son is 5 and reads quite well, so this book is perfect for him. Knock knock jokes are not meant to be sophisticated so the people bad-mouthing this book as "plagiarized" or saying how the jokes are "not funny at all" are actually funny themselves. My son laughing at them makes me laugh and there is joy all around. It's about word play and having fun with your kid. If you want "naughty" knock knock jokes, I know there are books out there or just make up your own. This one is for a kid's developing sense of humor and it's just perfect for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great beginner's repertoire of knock-knocks, February 25, 2009
This review is from: Little Book of Knock Knock Jokes (Hardcover)
This book is an invaluable reference guide to children entering into their Shecky Greene stage. When my kids were too small to read it themselves, they made me read them the jokes over and over, and would practice them on their grandparents, friends, and anyone else they could corner. After they learned to read, they poured over the jokes, committing them to memory.

The jokes are cute, there's nothing inappropriate or edgy. The small size makes it a precious little treasury of silliness.

I had a tough time finding this book, but lucked into finding a copy at Borders. If you can get your hands on a copy, it's a real treat for kids age 4-8.

So you think you're a knock-knock joke fan?

Well, then I strongly suggest that you don't buy this book because it will ruin your taste for jokes the very minute you open it.

I've got nothing bad to say about the pictures, which in fact are quite good.

However, the jokes themselves are all ones I've heard before, and most of them are so stupid that there's absolutely nothing funny about them. It's also not nice that the author copies someone else's jokes and puts them in a book titled as her own.

Take some good advice, and don't waste your money on this book unless you've got nothing better to do with it. If you're really desperate for knock knock jokes, your money would be better spent on books by David Lewman, Joanna Cole, or Tad Hills.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic but I'm Biased, January 11, 2001

This book is filled with fun and and entertaining knock knock jokes that'll keep children giggling for hours and adults groaning for hours. The illustrations aren't bad either.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bored Reader in the East, May 26, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Little Book of Knock Knock Jokes (Hardcover)
This book was a very boring read, and I wish I had never picked it up in the first place. The jokes themselves are very lame, and I did not appreaciate the humor. I thought that many of the jokes were old, and some of them made no sense at all to me. Those few people that I shared it with, also commented that they were not impressed. I don't wish to sound rude, and I'm sure the author had good intentions, but it did not come out well. Once again, I did not write this to sound nasty, rather, to inform other knock knock joke fans, that this book is a waste of money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a worthwhile read, May 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Book of Knock Knock Jokes (Hardcover)
I believe that this book was not well written at all. I found it a waste of time to read, and the jokes were not at all amusing. I seriously think that Miss. Bayne should not be writing anymore books in the near future or the far future for that matter. I do not encourage anyone to read this book, even if you love knock knock jokes. They are normally my favorite, but i found this book appaling, and a total lame waste of time and money. For your own sake, do not read this book.
