4.0 out of 5 stars If you think we have reached the pinacle of Bad Taste;forget it;it used to be much worse in the past., July 3, 2008

This little tome is rather innocous ,being shocking pink,with its lily white title and dainty pink ribbon bookmark.But that is where all civility,good taste and even common decency ends with this little gem.
The book is somewhat along the lines of "Ripley's Believe It or Not!";but much of the stuff in this book is so gross that it is even beyond the pale,of what Ripley's gives us.
All the things described really happened and many are even more shocking when you see they were carried out by some of history's most famous people. Not only that,these things happened ,almost as normal in the past and by some of what we think as history's most civilised countries and cultures. Many of the things you will learn about here,probably for the first time and will surprise,and even shock you;
Let me give you a taste (and it is really Bad) of some of what you will find;

Robert the Bruce,King of Scotland,died of leprosy aged 55.

Albert Einstein's eyes were removed by his ophthalmologist Dr.Henry Abrams during the autopsy in 1955 and stored in a safety deposit box.The eyes were put up for auction in 1994.

During widespread food shortages in Cuba in 1994 the cat population fell by 400,000.

In 1994 Peter Weiller,a German film-goer,was beaten to death by ushers in a Bonn cinema because he had brought his own popcorn.

Elizabethan women drank the urine of puppy dogs to improve their complexions.

King Edward II was assassinated by having a red hot poker thrust up his rectum.

Pope John XIII (965-972) was murdered by an irate husband who discovered His Holiness on top of his wife.

Nelson Rockefeller,a former US vice-president,died aged 71 while copulating with his mistress.

There you have it;and that doesn't even scratch the surface of what this book has in store fo you.
