A Little Books Boxed Set Featuring Little Pea, Little Hoot, Little Oink

I've given "The Little Pea" book as gifts before, but finding this set was truly a gem!
All three books are sweetly written and the illustrations enhance the story. Plus, the child friendly cardboard-like pages will help keep these books in better shape for many years to come.

These books are absolutely adorable! I looked around for the Little Pea book for my 6 month old because I had seen it elsewhere and loved it. Then I stumbled upon this set from Amazon and thought it would be a great XMas gift. These 3 books are absolutely darling and have cute little lessons in them. I can't wait until my son is a little older and understands what I'm reading him. But for now I just entertain myself!

I bought these books because I am a fan of jen corace's artwork and I was really bored reading the same board books over and over to my daughter. the books themselves are attractively packaged and published, the box is cute and the books themselves feel a little bit higher quality than other board books we have (heavier weight, glossier pages, etc.).

I was originally drawn to the books because of the artwork and it doesn't disappoint (I know, I know, horrible pun--sorry!). the illustrations are nicely done--cute without being insipid.

and on to the complaints... my first complaint is that the books are rather repetitive. basically they are all the same plot, just from a slightly different direction. they all even seem to include a silly little pun on the last page "they owl lived happily ever after" vs. "they all lived hap-pea-ly ever after" (or something very similar). I think if I had just gotten one of the books, instead of the set, it would have been better. one book would have seemed cute and nicely done--all three together seem a tad unoriginal. my other complaint is that little pea, little hoot, and little oink are all boys. I know that may seem like a silly complaint to some, but to have a set of three books like this and to have them all be about male characters and to all pretty much share the same plot...

I bought these for all the little people in my life this Christmas. They are wonderful!

I bought this set after hearing Little Pea at the library - I thought it was such a cute book & I immediately came home & looked it up. I'm glad I decided to buy the whole set because my son (2 1/2) absolutely LOVES these books! And has since he was about 18 months old. Little Oink was actually once of the 1st books he specifically requested to read - I asked him what he wanted to read one night & he said "piggy". A year later he still frequently says "I wanna read piggy". It's a good thing that I also enjoy these books as well because he requests them A LOT!

Little Pea is a pea who has to eat candy for dinner each night & he hates it!
Little Oink is a pig whose parents want him to make a mess but he just wants to be clean & tidy.
Little Hoot is an owl who just wants to go to bed but his parents make him stay up and play.

They are all basically the same story, but with different characters & different "problems", but despite the repition, they are very cute & I doubt any young child is going to be bothered by that anyway. They're all pretty short, the illustrations are really nice & kind of fun (there's lots of fun little details that my son likes to point out to me as we read - like the different animals hiding in the background), & the board books are nice & sturdy. Also another thing I love about these books is that each story has some sort of counting involved & Little Pea also lists the days of the week. My son enjoys counting along with me or by himself on those pages so I feel like that's an added bonus. All around, I just really enjoy these books & I'm very glad I bought them.

This is the cutest book set! I would recommend them to everyone, the illustrations are cute and the theme of the books are great, a definite good buy!

My 15 month daughter loves "Little Pea and Little Hoot" books. Every time we pull out the box set she would get so excited and then she would pull out those 2 books and brings it to us so we could read it to her!! Cutest thing ever!! Would definitely recommended to all parents!

This boxed set was a great value as I almost purchased one of these books from another site for two dollars less than this set cost. We initially bought this set for the book Little Oink, as my husband's nickname is Oink and we wanted to get it for our daughter who was just born-our Little Oink. The books are very cute-which is a nice bonus!

I gave this to my 3 year old for her birthday and since we had them from the library she already knew what they were. She loves Little Pea and can actually recite it, that's how much we read it. I like it in the board books because it is definitely getting a workout from my little one year old who loves me to read books to him too. Good quality, great gift set. I ended up throwing the actual box away since there's no reason to keep a box around if these books are always being taken out! But buying it in the boxed set is much cheaper than buying all three separately.

I love the theme of these stories and how they are all so similar. Some people may find that tiresome and tedious, but I think it offers routine and familiarity to my kiddos.

These books are fun and interesting stories which aim at using reverse psychology to persuade your little one to eat healthy foods, keep their rooms clean, and go to bed early. I love these little books and think that my little girl enjoys the delightful pictures. If you want the best deal buy the 3 book set.
