Jenny's got quite a designing future ahead of her. My Monday sewing group loved her stuff and you will, too! --Mark Lipinski's Quilter's Home Magazine, July/August 2007

Twenty charming quilt patterns . . . provide techniques for creating quilts that babies and their mothers will love. --Quilter's Newsletter Magazine, September 2007

Use bright colors and fuzzy textures to whip up 20 simple baby quilts in this fun collection from Jenny Wilding Cardon. --American Quilter, Fall 2007 issue

About the Author

Jenny Wilding Cardon has been designing since high school. Back then, she would create eccentric, rebellious items of clothing, and then make her friends wear them to school. After graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in Women's Studies, Jenny spent three years with her husband in Seattle. A crux of American quiltmaking, Seattle introduced her to the vibrant, varied art, along with the many coworkers she befriended while working as a copywriter for Martingale & Company. Jenny's passion for quiltmaking inspired her to publish a book of baby-quilt designs (The Little Box of Baby Quilts, 2007). Her designs have also appeared on the covers of American Patchwork & Quilting's Quilts and More and Quilter's Newsletter's Quilt It for Kids magazines, as well as in McCall's Quilting magazine.
Jenny now lives in a quiet, quite sleepy bedroom community north of Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband of ten years, Brett, her two sons--Jack, 6, and Charlie, 2--and Niko Bear, a big silver and black cat.
Along with sewing of all sorts, Jenny's current interests include eating store-bought birthday cakes, listening to classic rock and current soul, writing, and knitting. She writes about her sewing, thrifting, and family life at thewildcards.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sensory Sensation for Baby!, March 28, 2007
This review is from: The Little Box of Baby Quilts (Cards)
I may be biased, as I am the author's sister-in-law, but these quilts are darling! I've never seen baby quilts that make such wonderful use of color and texture. If you're looking for unique designs that will catch baby's eye, this is the box of designs you want.

My favorite design for its use of rich color contrast is "Sad Days, Hippie Days" which combines a tie-dyed background fabric with blocks of happy and sad smiley faces. A close runner-up for me is "Elementary!" which features green, yellow, and red striped blocks on a deep violet background.

If you're looking for a textured quilt, take a look at "Inch by Inch", a pattern that turns fuzzy fabric into cheery caterpillars with bright, smiley faces. And, I think most of us love the "I Love Mama" pattern, with the big fluffy heart right in the middle.

Any pattern you choose from this 20-pattern collection is bound to be baby's favorite blanky.

5.0 out of 5 stars A quick, take-along inspirational project card., July 7, 2007
This review is from: The Little Box of Baby Quilts (Cards)
Jenny Wilding Cardon's The Little Box of Baby Quilts is a set of project cards that can be used to produce inspirational and quick designs for boys and girls. These are portable cards in a box, each holding step-by-step directions, a color photo and templates, and even an introduction to basic techniques for beginners. The quilts use a blend of quick piecing and easy applique techniques. While not appropriate for library lending, they are perfect for the quilter who wants a quick, take-along inspirational project card.

5.0 out of 5 stars 22 quilts contained in a box!, February 23, 2009
This review is from: The Little Box of Baby Quilts (Cards)
What comes in a self-contained box, is plasticized and has 22 wonderful ideas? THE LITTLE BOX OF BABY QUILTS is what!

This wonderful little box has a detailed card for each of the 22 quilts created by Ms. Cardon. There is also a card that is the Table of Contents and one that gives basic instructions such as embroidery stitches, how to make a quilt sandwich and quilting and binding basics in case you need a refresher on any of these points.

There are some very useful and unique quilts in this box. How about a quilt that has pockets? This could be a wall hanging and used to keep powder, cream or Q-tips handy. As the baby gets older and uses the quilt as a blanket, it can be a place to keep a car or a doll close when falling asleep.

Then there are the "3-D" quilts. These have dimension to them such as two types of fabric - cotton and fuzzy fabric. How about a blanket with a dual purpose - keeping warm and playing a game? There are two of these - one is called Training Wheels (it has a "race track" around the edge and the other is a checkerboard, complete with playing pieces. And we can't forget the special wall hanging that is a measuring stick. Every child needs one of these and its measuring device is the stem of a flower. Too cute!

These cards will lay flat so you won't have a problem keeping your place, they have plenty of graphics and a color photo of the completed quilt. The card also tells you the finished size of the quilt and the blocks.

This is a wonderful gift to give to your favorite quilter or just to add to your own library of favorite quilt books.
