This book is just wonderful. The writing is superb. It is like listening to an adorable 4.5 year old speak aloud. Originally published in 1949, it is amazing how much the story resonates today. My nearly 3 year old loves it as well.

A really lovely story about a 4.5 year old boy's day, spent in the countryside. The maid at his Manhattan apartment has invited him to spend the day at her home out in the country and it is lovely. Sweet, easy vocab and lovely illustrations make this an A+. My 4-year-old boy really loved it.

My photographer has an Original one from when it was originally published. Had to get one for my kids. It's a classic and the drawings are great! All in Brown and white print and how life is to live in the city & tall buildings. Very quaint and sweet!

I am not the intended audience for this book (I'm a grownup), but I found this book to be charming. The images, though, are the real show - the drawings are just, simply, great!
