Product Description

Keep tabs on your child at all times with this small but sophisticated device that combines GPS and cellular technology to provide you with real-time location updates. The small and lightweight Little Buddy transmitter fits easily into a backpack, lunchbox or other receptacle, making it easy for your child to carry so you can check his or her location at any time using a smartphone or computer. Customizable safety checks allow you to establish specific times and locations where your child is supposed to be for example, in school causing the device to alert you with a text message if your child leaves the designated area during that time. Additional real-time alerts let you know when the device's battery is running low so you can take steps to ensure your monitoring isn't interrupted.

For that alone, I really don't recommend it.

Little Buddy support told me it was a Virgin Mobile problem that they hoped would be fixed.

Last year it had been ranked as the #2 tracker out of 12 evaluated, so it's unfortunate.

Little Buddy Child GPS Tracker - (Green)

We are using this on a disabled adult who likes to walk. For the most part, he is able to go miles each day without difficulty, but there are times he is unable to get back. We have tried for 9 months to get him to use a cell phone. That has not been successful.
WHEN this works it is great...but it has gaps. I have setup safe zones with times, it is supposed to let me know if he is in that area at the time set. Most of the time it sends a text message saying "don't know where he is".

If you reset/reboot this every day it seems to be able to keep pretty good track. We recharge the battery every nite and it has not been a problem. There have been times when he has been out and about and it did not work because it needed to be rebooted again. It is useless at that time.

There are times when it has told us he was miles away and I could see him across the room

But, most of the time it works and it tells us where he is within 20 or 30 yards.
if he is traveling by car, the faster the speed the less precise. At 50mph it will tell you within 1.5 miles

would I buy this again?
Yes for us it has been very good not perfect

and if you need tech support
call Insignia office
Its only open during business hours but the other tech support listed was no help at all
ALL the other tech support and phone numbers found had no clue or no power or whatever.
When we first got this I called everybody I could find. The office, the next day told me the system was under repair those hours
so call the sales office first!!

Bought one of these units from Amazon. When I tried to activate it I was told by Insignia that Amazon IS NOT an authorized retailer so they would not activate it! Insignia told me only Best Buy is an authorized retailer. They don't have any and their price is outrageous! Shame on Amazon for selling items that are not supported by the manufacturer. Needless to say I am quite upset.
WARNING to all potential buyers: DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT THROUGH AMAZON!

I had high hopes for this product and it still has usefulness, but on Win7 it does not load any drivers and the following results:

1) you still get text and email updates as unit passes through safety points you have put it
2) it does not update every 2 minutes as it suppose to, I assume because of the lack of software drivers/
3) if you want to see where it is at you need to hit the LOCATE button and wait for the 30 seconds to 2 minutes, but thankfully it is closer to 30 seconds.
4) because of the non-update location (suppose to be every 2 minutes for an hour at a time) you must manually click located, wait for it to refresh and if you are (as in my case seeing that my wife makes it to work safely) if I didn't hit LOCATE to refresh the location, I would ONLY have email notifications (I don't use texting) to go by - the map screen will NOT refresh during the 1 hour tracking time.

I should be able to sit back and enjoy watching as I see my wife move through traffic, see what supermarkets she is stopping at, or other stores - I do most the cooking because of our work hours and I like to know about when she will be home. Seeing she stops somewhere and seeing her take off again allows me to start dinner at a time where it will be done and not over-cooked when she gets home.

I got it as a tool to help see she gets safely from point A to B, but having to manually reset the location button all the time keeps me at the computer instead of doing the stuff I had hoped to do.

I like the simplicity of it, it seems to charge well and has good battery life. I agree with most reviews that the term GPS in the product name is BOGUS and it uses cellphone technology only to track the unit.

Our daughter rides the bus to school every day. This is new for us, and I have to admit made me a bit uneasy at first. Then we got the Little Buddy and I have to say, it does put my mind at rest.

Pro's:

Small, easy to conceal.
Tracks within a few yards, this is amazing to me.
Priced well below any other comparable tracker.

Con's:
Battery life could be better. However we purchased the quick recharger and the high capacity battery and this meets our needs.

I would definitely recommend the Little Buddy for a little peach of mind!

I bought this product to track my child. Works as it's described. Only the first 30 days are free. After that there is a service fee. the're two options to choose from. I did not know this before purchasing this, but don't really have a problem with it. It's not too expensive. The only problem is the battery life. The second day I've owned it. I received an email of a low battery warning.

Purchase this item November 2012 and found that this device is not in service by the company and with no service provider available, it is just useless to me. I tried to contact the seller but no reply. If there was no way to activate this device it should have been pulled from the Amazon site a long time ago and as another customer mentioned it another review, it's just a green piece of plastic with some useless electronics inside. I will be requesting my money back.
