Book Description

January 19, 2012 3 - 5 years500L (What's this?)
Finally, the real Little Bunny Foo Foo song can be sung. You see, Little Bunny Foo Foo was provoked into bopping those field mice on the head after they stole her freshly baked cupcakes! And the so-called "good" fairy? Well, let's just say she was spotted accepting a sweetly frosted bribe or two. Adorable art, irreverent humor, and a deliciously satisfying surprise ending - Cori Doerrfeld has given this classic song an irresistible modern twist.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Doerrfeld concocts an oh-so-sweet visual story line for the lyric, setting a snub-nosed, big-eyed bunny baker off in pursuit of a crew of cute little cupcake rustlers. Never have expectations been more thoroughly set up, and then gleefully confounded."-Kirkus

From the Inside Flap

Poor Littlel Bunny Foo Foo is so misunderstood.  You see, all she wanted to do was bake (and eat!) her cupcakes in peace, but those sneaky mice just kept stealing them away.  Wouldn't you want to bop them on the head too?

You've heard the song, but read on if you want the REAL story of Little Bunny Foo Foo.

*No mice were harmed during the production of this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars The bunny EATS the good fairy!! March 28, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I should have previewed this story before buying for my 3 year old. She's always loved the song, and the cover of the book is adorable, but this book is just AWFUL. In the story, the little bunny keeps "bopping" the field mice on the head, and the good fairy keeps telling her to stop or she will turn Little Bunny Foo Foo into a "MONSTER." At the end of the story, the fairy does turn the bunny into a monster, and then the "monster" bunny (very scary looking with SHARP teeth and claws) EATS the good fairy!!! The end. No "moral of the story" that hitting isn't nice. I could see how older kids (4th grade and up) would think this is "funny," but for a younger child...ABSOLUTELY NO WAY would I recommend this amoral tale. I really regret purchasing this.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent new take on a classic children's song March 29, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Every parent is familiar with the Little Bunny Foo Foo song, which is supposed to be a moral tale that hitting is not nice. But what if that's not the whole story?

This take, which is told through fantastic illustrations, shows the hidden side to this tale. Little Bunny Foo Foo wasn't just casually wandering through the woods bopping field mice on the head. Instead, these little mice were stealing her cupcakes! And the "good" fairy is too dense and self-important to see what's really going on!

I think this is a fun take on this story, though if you or your kids are sensitive to anything remotely scary (there is a monster at the end) or won't be able to pick up on this complex twist of the original plot, then pass it up. But if your kids like books with beautiful illustrations, and you don't mind explaining the complex moral trajectory of this story, then this book is for you!

1.0 out of 5 stars Are you kidding me? A monster bunny?
This is NOT the sweet story that you remember from your childhood. In this book, the Good Fairy turns Little Bunny Foo Foo into a monster, who then EATS the Good Fairy. Freaky!
