A quick synopsis: This is the story of a little (short) bunny who is teased by his siblings about how tiny he is. It happens to be Christmas Eve and he can't reach the ornaments on the tree. He hides under the tree because he is upset about the teasing. He falls asleep under the tree where the ornaments come alive on Christmas Eve. He "magically" thinks himself tiny to join them and spends most of the time driving a fire truck ornament. In the morning, he is given the choice to stay with the ornaments or rejoin his family. He decides to stay with his family and rethinks himself big.
As a concept this isn't bad, but the execution was mediocre. The writing is, for lack of a better word, blah. This could have been remedied with amazing illustrations, but they are dull in color, even the Amazon picture is brighter than the real thing. The whole book is illustrated in mostly yellows and browns with slightly crazed-looking rabbits. And at the end, when the book says the bunny children are going to get their stockings, they are hanging on the mantle looking completely empty.
I really wanted to like this book. But with the huge choice of children's Christmas books out there that ARE truly magical and heart-warming... this one really falls to the bottom of the list.

I had to submit a counterpoint to the only other review of this book. We borrowed it from the library and my son absolutely loved it. Then we decorated our tree and he was so excited to see we had a snowman ornament (one of the ones that come alive in the story). I thought the illustrations were warm and sweet. I liked that it was about fun and imagination and not really focused on presents.
