Dirty and down to earth rock,
By
This review is from: Little Caesar (Audio CD)
Little Caesar play dirty rock 'n' roll with a metal touch. If there were a genre called "biker metal" that would indeed be suitable for Little Caesar. The band, led by tattooed singer Ron Young (later to join ex Whitesnake members in a project called Manic Eden) sounds a bit like Quireboys from time to time but they look like Monster Magnet. Little Caesar's self titled album from 1992 may not include any obvious hit song attempts but they did throw in a good cover version of "Chain of fools", and the melodic semi ballad "In your arms" is attractive enough to get some air play if we only lived in a musically fair world. The same goes for "Midtown" which might be the best song on this album. Overall, it's a solid and loud in-your-face album that would please any true down to earth rocker.

Blistering!,

This is one of the finest mixes of blues, rock, and soul that I've heard in quite some time! The music is tight, but the edges are just frayed to enough to get across the point that this is music inspired by life! The vocals are nothing less than grindingly melodic, and the songs themselves cram that feeling down one's throat! It will be some time to come before the music world sees this album's equal!

BEST EVER BAND IN THE WORLD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Caesar (Audio CD)
There isnt anything better than Little Caesar. I know that they are not a band anymore however there is nothing so soulfoul and excelent than their music. They have: 1) Down In The Wire (one song at "Street Survivors" compilation album only on LP format) 2) Name Your Poison (EP) 3) Little Caesar (Cd & LP, Chain Of Fools cover by Aretha Franklin on 7"&12") 4) Influence (Stand Up video, slow ride cd single) Do you know that Ron Young with members of Whitesnake did another band called Manic Eden and had an album which is another Masterpiece? Ron Young the singer appears at Terminator 2 as a biker in the bar. Also there is a song in a film where Al Buddy plays a father who wants his son back(but his son is a pain...) More infos...They were headliners at a major Biker annualy reunion party, also they were No 1 at LA radio station (dont remember its name)and finaly Bob Rock produced their first cd album (Bob Rock produced Metallica's-Black Album and Bon Jovi albums among others)Last but not least the song I wish it will rain could be heard in its original version in the film Hamburger Hill.I really need to know where are they now!!!

Straight forward rock n' roll,
By PaLe (Montreal, Canada) - See all my reviews

I bought the tape when it first came out and was simply blown away by the sound and lyrics. It's all real.. no bull.. I bought "Influence" when it came out and it just hit the right spot again... Hard-hitting, blues-oriented rock n' roll, ballads that actually mean something, heavy guitars and Ron's voice. Man ! I sure miss those guys. This music is reserved for people who want the real thing... It's a rock n' roll state of mind... Thanks guys !

For those who have listen to them, their is a second album by them it's called Influence and it's just as good as their last album. I also know that they have one or two other albums out before that. The last I heard they were supposed to have broke up.

I've had this disc for 10 years and still consider it one of the best ever. I keep checking to see if they have any other releases besides this and their also powerful 2nd release. Where are these guys?

The full flowering of hard rock, cut off in its prime,
By
This review is from: Little Ceasar (Audio CD)
If you follow the history of hard rock/heavy metal, or its multitude of subgenres - or if you lived through it - you'll know that it reached a peak in popularity in the mid- to late 1980s, only to die, depending on the account, of its own excesses, of having become a stale genre, from the rise of alternative rock (especially grunge), or all of the above. This is basically true, as far as I remember it. What gets lost in the shuffle, however, is the sudden explosion of great hard rock bands that was underway in the early 1990s, just as grunge arose to kill them off. Little Caesar was one of those bands.
What's striking about Little Caesar is how they simultaneously managed to come across as a complete kick-butt group while producing music with real soul. "From the Start" and "In Your Arms" are a world apart from the usual sappy power ballads all hard rock groups of the time were obliged to include on their records; these are ballads no one should be embarassed to listen to today. The crowning achievement, though, has to be their transformation of Aretha Franklin's "Chain of Fools" into a hard rock number. That's not to say that there aren't a few clunkers here - this was the band's debut, and better was to be expected if they had received any support at all, but of course that wasn't to be. And not just because of alternative rock - the bandmembers were seriously ugly dudes. This was one kick-butt band that really looked like they could kick some butt; I'd have put money on them in a throw-down with any other band of the time, and it should go without saying that they'd scare any current rock band right out of the cage. Their appearance made the soulfulness of their sound that much more incongruous. Regardless, the band was doomed in the video age, relegated to self-release status for their next record (the inferior but still enjoyable "Influence") and then to complete oblivion. I enjoy the best songs from this album to this day. If you enjoy hard rock, give this band a chance.
