5.0 out of 5 stars Everything You'd Ever Want April 5, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I preordered this book and received it on its official launch date. I mean, how could I not--did you SEE the book trailer?! Linda Permann is one creative chica and I can't tell you how excited I am to start crocheting the patterns in the book! They look like professionally-made items you could find in a store--not the "granny made it for me" kind of crochet--you know what I mean. Up-to-date, hip, colorful--Linda Permann is a designer to look out for. I know that I will be a faithful subscriber to whatever designs she produces in the future. Amazon, can I have a Subscribe&Save feature for Linda Permann's books!? There's nothing to dislike. Little Crochet includes hints and tips for customizing the sizes to fit the young person in your life, as well as substitution ideas. Some of the information included are things I never thought off--tools of the trade that perhaps only professionals and experienced crocheters know. But this is a crochet book that can be used by a beginner and experienced crocheter alike--items that can be whipped up in no time. I'm especially excited about the Ribbed Cardigan, Sleep Sack, Legwarmers, and Vest. I also am in love with the little "crochet adorned" section of the book which mirrors Linda's previous published book focusing on using crochet for appliques and embellishments in conjunction with ready-made fabric. This book just shouts "have fun" with crochet--and I can't wait to start having fun! So, what's your excuse in not joining in on the party?

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit unclear instructions September 17, 2012
I received this as a gift and I love looking through the book because everything is so beautiful and adorable! I have made one cardigan following this book, and currently working on two more from this book.

While the book is delightful to eyes, I can only give three stars for the instructions.

I don't know if all the reviewers have actually made things from this book, but I found some of the instructions very vague or confusing. It took me a lot of trial and error to finish the cardigan I made. Once I finally figure it out, the cardigan did turned out to be as beautiful as a store bough one.

The two other projects I am currently working on also has confusing instructions and after spending so much time trying to figure it out, I gave up, and am now modifying the pattern myself.

FYI, I consider myself intermediate level .

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Crochet April 7, 2011
By Erik
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I got this book today and I have to say I love it! There isn't a single project in this book that isn't delightful. I haven't started any of the projects yet but I can't wait to try them out. Not only is every project lovely but the book itself is visually appealing and her writing style is easy to read and practical. I love the pages on how to measure babies, this is extremely helpful. I consider myself to be an intermediate crocheter and I see projects that would be great for a beginner and projects that would give me a bit of a challenge(which I love!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Saying I love this book is an understatement! May 12, 2011
to say that i love this book is an understatement. it will be treasured in my home. i can't stop looking at it and marveling over it's loveliness! the patterns are modern, fresh, fun and timeless. some of them i even had to look twice at to see if it really was crochet! linda walks you effortlessly through the tools and pattern essentials needed to crochet. i loved that she even has a section on how to pick/choose yarn for crochet and also how to decipher all the different gauges for knitting to use for crochet. she even includes a handy section on making garments fit for your baby that is invaluable. i learned a lot from this section and her schematics. this alone is well worth reading. the patterns outlined in the book range from items for the nursery, to clothes and gifts. i cannot even begin to choose a favorite. i want to make the whole book. seriously. not joking here. a friend and i have toyed with making each and every project (rebecca..wink wink). a bit loony, i know, but i just love it that much. i don't remember the last time i was so inspired to crochet. i feel the need to rethink all garments and imagine them in crochet instead of knit/sewn. it's a wonderful feeling and my hooks are looking a lot more cheerful around these parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Lovely!!! October 2, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Love this book!! So far I finish (in so little time) two projects (and it seems more on the way) I usually don't do crochet projects since I tend to find instructions difficult to read, but with this book not only instructions and charts were esay to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! August 10, 2011

I love this book. There are so many cute things to make. The patterns are very well written and easy to follow. Plus there are directions for all the stitches in the back of the book. I also loved the yarn buying guide. I have made the 2 dresses and the boat neck sweater for my daughter. I just started the leg warmers and I ordered some cashmere yarn to make her the little cardigan. The only down side I could find was the patterns seemed to run a size big for my daughter even though my gauge was correct. But that was easy to correct.
