Book Description

April 2008

"Remember kind actions - more than anything else - cause the soul to shine with brilliance."

Gertrude the Great

Discover the strength, wisdom, and joyful faith of Christianity's legendary women - the medieval mystics. Their honesty and deep love for God will encourage and empower you every day of the year.

This book of daily readings will help you create quiet space for focusing on God's love in the midst of a busy life. As you spend time with these great women, you will discover an astonishing view of a God who is tender, nurturing, forgiving, and as close as breath.

"In these pages, the images of the spiritual life are the erotic ones of the feminine experience. They are the stuff of very physically-present women who loved their Lord with a ferocity and passion that could be reported only in those experiences of the flesh."
Phyllis Tickle

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Get Enough of a Good Thing, May 12, 2008
This review is from: A Little Daily Wisdom: Christian Women Mystics (Paperback)
This re-released compilation of medieval women mystic contemplations is filled with the kindness and generous living that every heart finds itself thirsty for. I have worn my first copy into a shredded mess of loose pages and bent covers. This collection continues to speak to the reader, inspiring and digging into one's soul anew with every reading. Butcher's brilliant translation makes these words of wisdom timeless, relevant, and touching. "A Little Daily Wisdom" never ceases to provide a deeper understanding of the romance available to every woman's heart through the Love of Christ.

This review is from: A Little Daily Wisdom: Christian Women Mystics (Paperback)
I was given this book for my birthday last year. Now I can not imagine starting my day without it. I've given it as gifts, no one has yet shown disappointment. The words of wisdom take my Spiritual journey deeper, help spark things I would/could not have thought of. These women have left footprints for me to follow and keys to unlock doors to my soul. A great read if you are ready or just willing to look a little deeper.
