This review is from: Little Death (Audio CD)
I first came across Pete & The Pirates with the release of the single 'Knots' which also found its way in this album. A fresh, crisp single that sounded to me like Supergrass' 'Caught By The Fuzz'. More in excitement of hearing a great new English band than anything else.
The albums sounds not very produced, even a little flat at times. But this doesn't harm the album at all. Compare it to Dinosaur's 'You're Living All Over Me'. Musical references would be Franz Ferdinand with some Belle & Sebastian and Bloc Party thrown into the mix. Musically bare, sung in double voices but in great songs. Best song of the album: Mr Understand, a song you can't get rid off.
