A MandiTori video collection,

There are so many reasons to own this video. Sure, the four music videos included (Silent All These Years, Crucify, China, and Winter) are available on Tori Amos: Complete Videos: 1991-1998, but these professional videos are really not the most special selections offered on this Little Earthquakes video. No one performs live quite like Tori, and this video contains six live performances (Leather, Precious Things, Little Earthquakes, Happy Phantom, Here in my Head, and Song For Eric). These early live performances wonderfully demonstrate the cozy, interdependent, loving relationship between Tori and her audience. Precious Memories is particularly spectacular here; in many ways, it is my favorite recording of that song, much better than even the live performance on the To Venus and Back CD. Tori performs two songs here that are not available on any of her full albums: Here in my Head and the short a cappella Song for Eric. There is also a seventh live performance of the moving and very personal Me and a Gun, but it was performed for a television audience in Asia rather than before a live concert audience. Interspersed throughout the video are comments from Tori about performing, her own life and memories, adolescence, her selection process for songs to sing in concert, overcoming the mental demons associated with being raped, religion, etc. In her interviews, she is honest, natural, and delightfully weird. Even on stage, she easily chats with her audience and remains genuine and true to herself in everything she says and does. Her thoughts on performing, particularly in terms of the importance of an artist giving back to the audience all of the good vibes she receives from them, is refreshing. Basically, this wonderful video gives you eleven excellent songs, some behind-the-scenes concert footage, and a variety of clips from conversations and interviews; it all adds up to 55 minutes of mandatory, inspirational Tori material.

This video is truely great. It contains two beautiful additional tracks: "Here. in my hand" and "Song for Eric". There are four videos (Silent all these years, Crucify, China and Winter) and 7 livesongs. If you are a Tori Fan; buy it! :)

THE DIARY OF A WOMAN AND HER PIANO!,
By
This review is from: Little Earthquakes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Little Earthquakes is Tori Amos's visual diary that goes in depth about the life of the woman behind the piano. The video analyzes the songs and Tori Amos's goals as a performer. The album is very loyal to Tori Fans. You won't be discouraged! There are even two rare songs that Tori plays live (Here in My Head and A Song for Eric). This is truly a wonderful video about the diary of a woman that moves mountains and caused a Little Earthquake.

Live songs, music videos, interviews....what could possibly go wrong? Although it lacks some of the steam that is present in other live performances, this video gives those who have only recently discovered Tori a chance to experience the small, quiet venues of the Little Earthquakes tour. The highlight for me was the b-side "Here. In My Head". I'd never heard it before, but I fell in love with it immediately. This video is definitely a welcome addition to any Tori collection.

This is a wonderful video for Tori fans showing Tori early in her solo career. Live footage of Tori performing songs from her first solo album, "Little Earthquakes," including the rarities "Song for Eric" and "Here. In My Head." Also includes some video interviews with Tori in which she comments on her perceived role as a performer, among other things. A very nice item and well worth owning!

Fascinating Debut Album from a Captivating Artist,
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Earthquakes [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In the car on the way to work is NOT the appropriate setting in which to listen to this album for the first time. Should you choose to undertake the momentous task of crawling under the thin skin of this journalesque self-portrait, be prepared- it won't let you go. Amos' vocals are reminiscent of Kate Bush's lofty strains, her piano technique is dazzlingly original and classically trained, and it would be unjust to describe her writing as anything less than arresting. If you plan to take on this album,it's a good idea to find about three weeks in your calendar when you can afford to be completely useless- Amos and her piano will smash what's inside and leave you to pick up the pieces and reassemble your soul. But that's just the point: what you discover is that when you put the pieces back together, the finished product is shatter-proof. END

This was the first Tori video I got, and that was before i saw her Live. This video doesn't really do justice to the magic that Tori provokes at her live preformances, but it is still an amazing account of her witty eccentricity. A definite must-own for any Tori ear-with-feet.

As popular as Tori is, I still don't see her videos being played much on MTV and MTV2, VH1, etc etc. Currently, it's as thoough she's struggling to become mainstream. With this collection of her first successful album's music videos...well, she's just awesome. In my opinion, this is the best album Tori ever put out because it's centered around her piano (best friend) and the videos are excellent. Some of the videos are pretty cheesy, but it's great to see Tori rockin' out in them. If you want to start a collection for Tori or put the finishing touches on one you have, you need to get this.
