4.0 out of 5 stars Cool toy, but needs adjustments.
The downsides:

1. If you buy this, the first thing to do is put 4 layers of masking tape (cut into a circle) over the speaker. Otherwise, it is entirely too loud.

2. It's also heavy, so 2 year olds need help flying it, but 3 year olds can handle it. Still, the wheels work well, so smaller kids can roll it.

3. The characters need...

I first saw this toy on ebay and started looking in our regular stores for it; finally, we found it at Target. My 5-year-old loves the Little Einsteins, so he was excited when I let him use his birthday money to buy this (since he was disappointed Santa didn't bring something like this last year). After taking it out of the box (much to my surprise, Fisher-Price improved the packaging so it doesn't take 30 minutes to get it out), we tried to put the figures in their seats - it's really difficult. They have assigned seats - opposite of the way they're sitting on TV, as far as I can tell - and need to be put in just right. To our surprise, when we put Leo in and pushed down, we heard June's voice, when we put June it, out came Leo's voice. I don't know if it's just ours that's wired wrong, but my son was disappointed by that. When it's turned on, it is just way too loud - hearing loss in the making. There is no volume control. I think the noise even bothers my son, because he rarely turns it on. I also agree with a previous reviewer that it's very heavy. Although it's a must-have toy for a Little Einsteins fan, since it's the only Rocket toy around that seats the figures, it could definitely use some improvement.

The upside:

1. Fun, educational toy. Designed well, except for the points above.

4.0 out of 5 stars On the Loud Side, but Fun, August 29, 2007

I bought this for my 4 yr old son and he enjoys playing with it! The only thing is that it is LOUD. A solution I find myself doing on many toys we buy, is place clear tape over the speakers. What a difference!
It is also a bit on the heavy side, so my son just rolls it on the floor or on tables. Worth the purchase is your child is a fan of the Little Einsteins!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, with a few flaws, August 20, 2007

My 2 year old son LOVES this toy!!! He's played with it non-stop since we got it, but I have to be honest and complain about a few things that bug me about the toy that parents should know.

1. It is a LOUD toy with no volume adjustment. The sound effects and speech volume are louder than a normal conversation voice.

2. It is too heavy for my 2 year old to hold it up to make it fly. He needs our help to make it fly around, especially when we extend the handle on the bottom. I don't know why they would make such a heavy toy.

3. The lid for the cockpit has stopped staying open after only 2 days out of the box. So he can't take the figures in and out without having the lid slam down. Needless to say this make him very frustrated.

If it weren't for these things, this would be a 5 star toy for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars DEFINITELY A MUST HAVE TOY FOR PRESCHOOLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, October 18, 2007

This has got to be THE coolest toy that Disney/Fisher Price has come out with in a long time for toddlers/preschoolers! Excellent for pretend play. Nice classical music selection. My daughter and her friends LOVES Pat Pat Rocket! Tilt Rocket up and the music plays faster, tilt him down, and music plays slower. Overall, a very well made toy. I'm just thrilled that I found one for her before they're sold out! For those of you looking for one, ebay has them for cheaper than what Amazon is selling them for. Also, it's not Amazon selling this toy, it's a 3rd party seller.

$80 on Amazon! I bought this toy at Target last week for $35! For 35 it is a great toy, for 79 it would be severly overpriced. My 2 1/2 year has a bit of trouble opening the top, but that seems to be loosening up now (the latch sticks), once open, it does not like to stay open, but she's OK with that. She loves the Einsteins on TV, and now thinks it great she can play along with them.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVEIT!!, September 22, 2007

This toy is amazing. My son loves the little einstein's and he now has the opportunity to act out his own "missions". It comes with all of the characters however they are in a fixed position / arms and legs are not posable. One word of caution...this toy is extreemely over priced. I found it at target for HALF what it is listed for here. Look around you have plenty of time before christmas and WILL find it cheaper at target.

I was a little disappointed in this toy. My son loves it, but it does not react to patting as information states. Also it is very loud with no volume control beyond moving the toy slowly, but we all know that 3 year olds don't go slow. I put tape over the speaker to lower the volume. Also the hatch is too hard for a little one to open so I have to open it for him, if you pull too hard it comes off of the rocket and you have to re-attach it. I think for the high cost of this toy there should be some real improvements. We will probably return it.

Ok.. I was a little scared about buying this toy for my Daughter based on the reviews here. I took the chance and purchased it anyway and here is the truth about it.
1. Yes the speaker volume is way to high and there is not a volume control, however this is due to the fact that when rocket is slowly rolled the volume lowers and when he's rolled fast the sound is louder. and if your child plays with it outside the high volume is good.
2. I was dreading putting the little figures in their seats. A lot of people complained of the difficulty of this, I found this to be no problem at all if you match the figures to their seats, and yes the seats do match the seat placement of each chr in the opening of the show Leo in a Euro driving seat with Jun sitting to his left, Quincy behind her and Annie behind Leo. As a matter of fact my 2year + 8 month old Daughter has no problem at all taking the figure in and out. ( note this is a 3 years + toy).
3. Is it heavy? Yes and no, my little girl has no problem carrying it around, her 10 month old brother can even pick it up, However she has some difficulty when using the fold down handle. This issue is only due to wrist strength. My little girls wrist is just not strong enough to hold it in 1 hand for long periods of time. But again she is under the age requirement when she is over 3 years old I'm sure this issue will change.
4. If your buying for a child under 3- The only issue you run into is weight. But most children under 3 prefer rolling things anyway and Rocket rolls on the floor very well( stable) I have no worries about any choking hazards with this toy (as far as little parts that get lodged in throat).
5. The one thing I did remove from the toy was the little green fold out tv screen. its really worthless.

End note- I am very happy with this product and would say its a great buy if your children love Little Einstein's, -sounds may get on your nerves after a while but remember there is a off switch and batteries are removable. It is built tough and the canopy of rocket can pop off and on easy. all in all I would buy it again.

Target sells this item for $[...]! I am APAULLED that Amazon would hike up the price for this item this much1 Don't we call that price gouging? Who would spend $[...] on a plastic toy for a 2 year old? My son LOVES this toy. It's nice because he doesn't ask to watch the DVD much anymore...he would rather play with the real thing. This is great for me because as much as I love the cartoon...I have seen it way too many times.
