With a little Faith....anything is possible!,
By Voilee (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: With a Little Faith (Paperback)
This is an inspiring story written (mostly) about a dog who was found as a puppy with no front legs. The story tells about how his "family" trained him to walk upright on his hind legs all the time and become the only known bi-pedal dog in the world! It is a truly insipiring story of courage, faith, and miracles! I would recommend it to any age...especially if you are an animal lover!

Not about a Dog,
By
This review is from: With a Little Faith (Paperback)
Isaw the dog on a talk show on TV, so I thought maybe I would purchase the paperback the dogs owner wrote. The book really isn't about the dog at all. I realize the author needed to give background on how the dog came into her life and how she came to show the dog. But 90% of the book is dedicated to her hatred of her ex-husband, her hard luck life and what a hard ball woman she can be. I am all for womans rights and the need to fight back, but I bought the book to read about the dog, not about the womans personality.

With a Little Faith Second Edition is better,
By Daugher of the Author "Caity" (Oklahoma) - See all my reviews
This review is from: With a Little Faith (Paperback)
This is Caity, Jude's daughter. I know I'm not suppose to write on the review forum, but the 2nd Ed. to this book is much better. It has far less mistakes, and can be purchased at Amazon. The ISBN is 142571849-3. It has 290 pages, the same word count, but it's fatter, fuller, the font is better, easier to read. The first book was an Author's Review, and it was not suppose to be printed. The publisher messed up, but now it's a much better book. Buy the 2nd Ed. if you are thinking of buying this edition. Thanks.

I was emailed a link to a video clip from the Montel Williams show featuring Ms. Stringfellow and Faith. Being a dog lover, I immediately went to Amazon and ordered a copy. According to the author, there is more than one version in the marketplace, one being the unedited version which she never meant for publication. I apparently got the unedited version. I was appalled at the sentence structure (or lack thereof) and poor word usage, but tried to struggle through the story. There really is a story in there trying to get out, but I was not able to finish the book! Even in a rough draft, I think a college professor who teaches English would know the difference between "bear hand" and "bare hand", or when is the appropriate time to use "affect" rather than "effect". Most dogs, also, do not sit on their "hunches"; the ones I've known sit on their "haunches". The list goes on and on, and I am sure Ms. Stringfellow will take issue with my comments. I'm not trying to be mean. I know what it is to go through bad times in life, and I admire the faith and courage which took her through all of her crises. The kids really are adorable and I felt complete compassion for their situation. I just wish I had gotten hold of the "good" version of the book; maybe the experience would have been better.

Frustrating,

This book was so frustrating to read. These thoughts are for a personal journal, not a book for publication. Jude goes on television shows to discuss Faith, the dog, and talks about her book so readers assume the book is about the dog. However it is about her personal frustrations over family issues. I feel for her struggles. I admire her strength. However the book was boring, frustrating, annoying, and difficult to read.

The dog is inspiring, the writing and this book are not.,

I completely agree with the reviews below. The story about the dog was what I was interested in. The book is marketed as a book about the dog, but it ends up being about how awful her ex-husband is and all of the bad cards she was dealt. I didn't buy a book so that I could read about a bitter custody battle similar to the woman's down the street. It's written so poorly I couldn't even finish it.

With a Little Faith, by Jude Stringfellow, was a very nice book. I was interested in it because of a video someone emailed me of Jude and Faith on the Montel Williams show.
I am so glad their family triumphed through the rough patches they were going through prior to getting Faith the Dog. I think there was a little bit too much detailed info about the divorce, etc., included in this book, and I think it took a little away from the story of Faith herself. I am sure that this was a good exercise for Jude and her kids in healing but I don't feel like it did much for me, the audience. On the positive side, the best part of this book, the part I was thinking of when I bought it, was reading about Faith herself. I loved learning about her personality, her work, her accomplishments, and her everyday life. She ROCKS and is an inspiration to people everywhere, that you take what life gives you and run with it. That not everything is a disadvantage if you make what's available work for you. That is a really great message and the best part is that it is coming from a sweet cute lovable DOG! I do recommend this book for a spiritual lift if you enjoy stories that tug your heart strings-Faith's story is a great one. Jude and the rest of the Stringfellows, THANK YOU for sharing your Faith with the world!

I Wish I Would Have Read the Reviews!,
By Trisha Clark (Springdale, UT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: With a Little Faith, Second Edition (Paperback)
The other reviewers hit it right on the mark ~ this book uses the ploy of an amazing story about a dog to sell a book that is poorly written about someone's messed up (and yet still not interesting) life. The author goes off on everything that is wrong in her life and how it is all her ex-husband's fault but no one sees it . . . hello, I picked up the book to read about the dog! I don't know how this book ever got published in the first place. Save yourself the time and look up the dog's inspiring story on the internet and skip reading this author's poorly written ramblings.

I was disappointed when I started reading the book and so far, have not finished it. I really wanted to know about Faith, not her owner's life. I guess I should have read the reviews better because they do state that the book isn't much about the dog.

You won't believe your eyes,
By
This review is from: With a Little Faith (Paperback)
With a Little Faith is such a moving story about a family's love that you won't believe you could laugh and cry so much. I read books for a living and I know that this book is destined to become not only an Oprah favorite, but your favorite too. Please get this book, and buy one for a friend who needs that extra push. The author is one survivor, and she instilled that trait not only into her family, but into the little dog Faith as well. This book is a blessing.
