Product Description

This gourmet mini-carrot is fun for kids of all ages! Even harvested early, it has a deep orange color, tender core, and sweet flavor. Did you know that grocery store "baby carrots" are actually cores from regular-sized carrots? Once you try the sweet and crisp flavor of this 3" long "true" baby carrot, it will be hard to go back to the store-bought imitation. Though it tastes great fresh from the garden, "Little Finger" was developed in France for pickling and canning whole.

...the seeds were fresh. I usually have no trouble with this particular brand, but am very disappointed with the packet I got. It was packed for 2009, so maybe that has something to do with it. But then, seeds are usually viable for a couple of years....so....?

5.0 out of 5 stars An Early Harvesting Carrot, May 14, 2011
This review is from: Baby Little Fingers Carrot Seeds 1.5 grams - Heirloom
Baby Little Finger carrots are an early harvest carrot, generally picking in about 55 - 60 days. The carrot is about 3-4 inches long, fairly thin, and tender. A mistake I have often made with these carrots is to not harvest them on time. Several years I have waited too long to pick them, and the root gets harder and thicker. My advice is to plant these when the soil is about 65-70 degrees, write down the date, and then begin to harvest them about 2 months later. Carrots are slow to germinate, so I always plant a few radishes in with them to remind me that they are there. The radishes will come up in about a week, whereas the carrots usually do not appear for up to two weeks. The seeds are exceptionally small and hard to plant. I tend to scatter them in a bed that is about as wide as my hand (rather than a row), and then thin them as necessary after they sprout. Use a tined fork to harvest them, as this prevents root breakage. A home-grown garden carrot such as this is loaded with Vitamin A, and is so much better tasting than store-bought carrots.

I just received these seeds in the mail & sowed them in some 8.5" ceramic containers ... We'll have to see how they do.
