Cute, cute, cute!,

It was really darling to "see" things from a young flower girl's point of view (eg What if I run out of flowers?) Really cute illustrations, and an overall "Weddings are great -- families are great!" message.

Wedding Planners take note,

If I had been a subscriber when this book first came out I would have written a review back then. Thankfully I came across this book again which I bought for my daughter several years ago when she was picked to serve in her aunt's wedding. She made me read this to her so many times over the years that I'm sure she'll remeber the book long after she's forgotten the wedding. This is a priceless gift for any child who (a)is going to be in a wedding (b) is going to attend a wedding or (c)wants to read a good book. It is an affecting,, but not sentimental, story that touches on a child's(or even an adult's) emotions, but not in a ham-fisted or instructional way. If I were a wedding planner, I buy it and give it to the kids in the wedding who can read; it might not prompt them to better behavior, but it will keep them occupied for hours while you deal with other things. Like Lion King and Aladdin (but, for some reason, in my family not Fantasia) it has that special elxir for children that makes them like repeat performances much more than the first one. Is there a sequel? (and I don't mean the books about what to do when Mommy and Daddy divorce)If not, why not? If so, when or where will it be or was it published?

Perfect for your little flower girls!,

Upon pondering what gift to get all three of my flower girls for my recent wedding, I came upon this book. Not only was it cute and informative for my little cuties, it was also an inexpensive and totally appropriate gift for each girl. The colorful pictures and cute story line helped assure all three of my flower girls that they were going to do just fine on the 'big day'!

Christian-oriented with some questionable values,

First of all, this book is fundamentally Christian non-denominational. The plot takes place at a church, so the book is inappropriate for Jewish weddings. [Although flower girls aren't part of a traditional Jewish wedding, many couples are incorporating it into ceremonies these days (because the kids are so cute and it saves them from boredom).]
The book is not offensive to other religions per se, so you could use it to give girls a general look at the role of a flower girl, but religion-based questions are likely to arise. Secondly, the plot involves the flower girl putting on makeup. I wouldn't want to have my flower girl wearing, wanting, or expecting makeup. Third, the flower girl's little brother doesn't want to be the ring bearer so he hides from his parents to avoid the task. I wouldn't want to plant this idea in a child's head. Otherwise, the book is well-illustrated and colorful.

I ordered 4 books on being a flower girl for my 4.5 year old granddaughter. This was the best of the 4 books I ordered. My granddaughter wasn't very excited about being a flower girl but this book changed her mind! She absolutely glowed when I read this to her! Each turn of the page was a delight! The book explains the steps to prepare for the big day. The author didn't miss a detail and wrote a cute little story along the way. My granddaughter's expression and soft "Ohh" when she saw the page with the bride in her wedding dress was priceless!

A darling wedding tale,

"The Little Flower Girl" is a true-to-life enactment of what a child could expect to feel when participating in a wedding.
Louisa is asked to be a flower girl at her Uncle Jim's wedding. At first, Louisa is excited to be included until she begins to wonder and worry about her role. She wants to be the best flower girl that she can be. Meanwhile, her two year old brother George is oblivious about his role as the ring bearer, as depicted when he fusses during the wedding rehearsel and hides behind the ring bearer pillow as the wedding is taking place. It is an amusing story and addresses the anxieties some children feel about being a part of a wedding. Louisa realizes that weddings are not just about fancy dresses and eating a big cake. What is most important is when people come together "and dance in a circle of love."

Great Way To Get the Flower Girls Ready for The Big Day!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Little Flower Girl (Pictureback(R)) (Paperback)
I actually gave this to my flower girls ahead of our wedding because they're very young and I wanted their moms to start preparing them with this story so they can know what to expect and be comfortable. It's a lovely book for the girls and their moms seem to really love it, too. Plus, it's so inexpensive! Definitely the best book I've seen as far as having a story kids can relate to and absolutely the lowest price.

Our flower girl who is 4, loved the book. She made her parents read it to her the second she opened it up. She loved how the flower girl got to be so close to the bride! Cute idea for a little girl to see what she may need to do in a wedding!

I bought this book for a 3 year old little girl who was going to be the flower girl in my sisters wedding. For her age we thought it would be a good idea to show her with movies and books what being a flower girl was all about. Help her understand what she was going to do on the big day and who she was going to walk down the aisle with and so forth. She is a very shy girl but reading this story in particular got her excited. I read it to her, changing the names to fit the wedding she was going to be in. She loved this story more than two other books I purchased that were supposed to be for her age. Its a great story and it answers the basic questions. I would highly recommend this book for any flower girl!
