Book Description

April 2002 5 and upK and up
Little Fox likes to climb—and jump—and ride. Not on his chair. It's too small and too soft. Not on Father's chair. It's too big and too hard. But Mother's chair is just right. "That chair is going to break!" warns Mother. And one day, that's just what happens. Poor Little Fox. He didn't mean to break it. Poor Mother Fox. Where will she sit now? Father Fox has some suggestions, but it is Little Fox who comes up with a solution that's just right.

Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

PreSchool-Despite warnings, Little Fox thinks his mother's chair is "just right" for climbing, jumping on, and riding. Finally, it breaks, and his mother has nowhere to sit. Little Fox's seat is too small and Father's is too big. The chair store has a bewildering array of all sorts of choices, but not one is "right" for Mother. Finally, Little Fox and Father repair the old chair, which turns out to be "just right" for cuddling and reading. The softly colored illustrations, showing a happy family of foxes so rounded and cuddly as to resemble long-muzzled cats, depict a situation that most preschoolers can relate to-what small child hasn't been warned of the consequences of jumping on the furniture? This very mild but reassuringly cheerful tale could be used for one-on-one sharing.
