This book, a sequel to The Little Book of Sanctuary, a Beautiful Home is Simply a Choice, is yet another nugget of timeless wisdom from certified feng shui consultant and author Alison Marks. She talks about how our stuff mirrors us in one chapter and further distinguishes ourselves from our clutter. Not only that, she tells us a secret: that our clutter can actually be our ally! (See the chapter "The Gifts of Clutter")Buried deeper in the book are the 3 clutter types, starting on page 17. Reading the list of characteristics defining each clutter type, I was amused to find myself represented (and I won't tell you which one I am!). Alison progresses with humanism and heart as the book dovetails into the clutter-busting section, which I totally love: imagine 5 methods of clutter-clearing that suits your clutter type! What I love about Alison's books is her trademark sustainability plan at the end of each book. So even with the major clutter-clearing event implemented, she talks about how to create healthy clutter-busting HABITS. Actually, these habits are about being proactively clutter-free so that you would never have to start at the beginning again. Alison holds you by the hand and guides you through each step to being totally clutter-free and living the clutter-free lifestyle of your dreams. As Gloria Ng the Feng Shui Gal, I appreciate Alison's concrete clutter-busting process amidst the many feng shui books that suggest decluttering out there. So many feng shui books talk about clearing clutter and yet do not go into any specific details as to HOW to do just that. Alison's book is the one that delivers a step-by-step process unique to your own comfort zone, pace, and ideals. Once again, Alison has produced a book that honors the reader's process.
