This ladder is strong and well built, but it is also quite heavy and I'm not someone who is normally worried about the weight of my equipment.

Unfortunately it failed to perform the very task it was purchased to accomplish; working on stairs.

When it arrived I removed it from the box with much enthusiasm since I had a lot of window work to finish along some stairs, and familiarized myself with the knobs and levers. I then took it to the stairs and attempted to set it up. I was very disappointed to find that the limited adjustments of the ladder meant that it could not be safely placed on a set of stairs with a standard rise and run. With the ladder locked into the position that fit the stairs the best, the rear feet were precariously close to the edge of the stair. I would not have felt safe using the ladder under those circumstances.

This ladder may work on certain stairs but it will not work on all stairs, nor will it work on all slopes. The main reason for this is the limited number of positions that the rear leg has to offer. There are only three positions available, when eight or ten would have made this ladder much more useful.

Do not be fooled by the photos and images of the ladder on stairs, chances are it will not on your stairs.

This ladder is the perfect replacement for my 5-foot, old rickety wooden ladder. I have pulled its last splinter out of my hand. :-) I'm very glad I followed the other advice to only get "as much ladder as you need." I almost bought the 22-foot Little Giant, which would have been way too much ladder for me. This 5-to-8 foot model is perfect for anywhere I need to reach inside the house or the first level gutters outside.

The ladder is a little heavier than I expected, but easy to manage with my small build (5'5", 135lbs). It adjusts much easier than I expected, and is a very sturdy ladder. I love that you can set the adjustable leg to be straight up and down. That lets you climb right up close against a wall -- no excessive reaching or struggling to position the ladder just right.

Best of all -- FINALLY! -- a choice to buy something "Made in the USA". As rare as that is these days, it was refreshing.

i gave this to my husband as a christmas gift to replace an old wooden ladder that was pretty "scarey". he loves it..and the adjustable height is awesome. he says he loves it and that it feels VERY sturdy and strong. folds up nicely and is a light enough weight not to be a big burden when using it around the house.

We have the fiberglass model, and find it to be a tad heavy, however you need the extra "beef" for stability and strength. The ladder has proven to be adaptable to any situation thus far, and easily changes form, and locks securely in place. Both my wife and I know this is the best ladder we have ever owned, and, in fact, we sold the two ladders it replaced. You will not be disappointed with this ladder, and it will easily handle all jobs around the home.

I have bought four of these ladders over the years. Three fiberglass and one aluminum. Because of the lack of a cross-piece and the tripod design, this ladder fits in places no other ladder could fit into. I wish Little Giant would bring back the 4 to 6 foot model. There is a cult following of those small ladders among certain users.

I bought this to use as an orchard ladder - getting in amongst rhodies, trees and shrubs to prune. The tripod base looks much sturdier than the spindly pole of a true orchard ladder. Indeed it is and you feel completely secure when on it. However, it is very heavy to move around, somewhat awkward to adjust for height and the tripod legs get in the way more than I would have imagined. I may have to get a traditional orchard ladder as well.

I purchased this ladder mainly for trimming hedges. After fighting regular ladders for many years, I determined that I wanted an orchard ladder. The problem was which size to get. Buy a 6-footer and find out it's too short for some hedges, or buy an 8-footer and find out it's too tall and just gets in the way. Solution: A Little Giant Ultra Step. I honestly did not even know that LG made this ladder until a search here on Amazon. The ability to make the front leg shorter is a tremendous advantage over standard orchard ladders. I find myself using it for everything. It feels much more stable than my standard 4-legged ladders, and stores easier.

The Little Giant Ultra 5-8 foot replaced two ladders on my work truck! It is light-weight, easy to opperate and I could have sold a dozen of these things to other guys on the jobsites!

I am a commercial glazier and prior to purchasing this ladder, I had been in several situations where the ability to be legal and stable in a stairwell would have saved us $100+/day on electric lifts and scaffolding!

This ladder will pay for itself on one jobsite, but keep an eye on it... Little Giant is the leading name in ladders and it's hard for some to keep their hands off, if you know what I mean!! A little Master Lock would pair nicely with this product!
